I'm not really a marth mainer and I dont know if anyone has posted this before but I thought it would be usefull for some guys who dont know.

If you are running, press b, and then turn around quikly you'll beform a pivot shieldbreaker on the ground just like when you do in the air.

It has sick range because If you peform it correctly you'll dash back to the opponent with your shieldbreaker.

you can also beform one while sliding backwards.

This is general grounded b reversing. It's been known for a while. It hasn't been heavily induced in any Marth's game though (grounded b reverse dancing blade is amazing though). The timing for a shieldbreaker is really strict, and I can't do it easily.

Next time ask in the q&a thread (it's stickied) about whether or not something is known, we can usually quickly and efficiently tell you yay or nay and provide more information about it. :)

I actually did this for a while after running past someone, but I stopped. It's really unsafe, maybe like once a set is ok as the reward can be really high if you break their shield.

Marths shield breaker doesnt break shields if the shield is full unless its fully charged

And i think its one of the easiest attacks in the game to PS (but heck, PS'ing is so easy in the first place...), my friends do it soo much to me.

Its crazy unsafe, use it very sparingly.

doom, that's why you pressure them to shield first, then once it's been worn you use shield breaker.

also, i dont like doing this on the ground, i usually get punished.

my feet are draggin down on this dusty old road
since shield breaker comes out pretty fast and has disjoints like every other marth move your opponent doesnt have many options if he doesnt jump the first second you start to charge, so since this is so immediate i like to whip it out every now and then but try to limit myself. although i have gotten a shield break in a tourny match once doing this. but then i just jabbed him out of it by mistake

Yea, i understand that, every move has its uses, and when you actually break a shield its the sexiest thing in the world and it can change the opponents mindset for the whole match (makes DB sooo easy so spam).

shield breaker is really nice for mindgames, if you do it and it misses the opponent stops shielding as much, which makes it easier to pivot grab, dancing blade, and pretty much everything.

However, i too get punished too frequently, if you use it and the opponent dodges, youre in troule. Thats why im not encouraging it, its much more likely that you will get punished unless you space it perfectly, in which case you're still probably gonna get punished =P

With marth you can use a similar technique

have marth dash and as soon as you get past your opponent smash the joystick the opposite way you were running and if you mash z and A at the same time you will do a pivot grab, and if you do it right it will double your grab range
