I am finding this very useful. Especially near the ledge. Also, this is really easy to do out of a run.

I like it as well. I prefer a shield buffered turn around grab because I feel it's faster, but both get the same job done. What do you do most of the time out of grab? I'm assuming back throw if doing this near ledge?

I love pivot grabbing. Especially with ranged grabs, it spaces you away from your opponent, and can punish many dash attacks and dash grabs. I've been wondering when people will start to realize how useful this is. I've thought of many uses, but haven't had the presence of mind to apply them. For instance, crossing up people who missed tech, then turning around and grabbing them out of the lag.

I enjoy doing this as well starting to implement into my game more. I usually do back throw if near edge get them off stage and follow with edge guard or attempted gimp kill.

Now that I've gotten a better hang of it, I'm loving it. Good for trickiness and setting up quick strings.

Boards aren't actually down btw, stop falling for these shenanigans!

I've put this to some use, and probably since I haven't seen much usefulness in it means I need to use it more. Lol, I used to think zair was useless too until I actually played Samus. But Hylian has good stuff, so I think I need to pay more attention. Oh, and post more videos Hylian. I enjoy your matches. Thanks.

It's situational, but useful. Pummeling humans is much easier than pummeling cpus, so remember to mash A! Since dthrow is lousy for comboing, fthrow and bthrow are our only options eh? At least they setup for zairs >=D.

They set up for chargeshot too. Just hit them while they are airborne.

Maybe I didn't see this so useful is because the person I go up against most is my bro, who has godly button mashing skills, getting out of my grabs way sooner than even lvl 9 cpus... Sometimes I will play ICs and I noticed their lack of grab hold compared to all other characters. He can get out before I can pummel him once when grabbed...

This needs a bump; Samus' pivot grab owns.
Yeah, we were playing earlier and I noticed your usage of the pivot grab :). Made me happy because I love using it as well.

pivot grabbing is when you use grab when your character just changes direction or pivot. this cancels most of the grabs start-up and end lag. it does have less range though but at least its 50% faster.

you tap one direction and quickly change directions and grab while your character is in the pivoting animation
<in case u dunno what it is then use squirtle, he has the most obvious pivot animation>

So you guys are talking about like a dash dance grab right? Not a "true pivot" grab where you end up in teh neutral position right? Or am I wrong?

no -- dash dance grab is different ... i think - i never heard of DD grab

anyways in a pivot grab you do end up in the original position .... its hard to explain
there is a video on the Yoshi boards of him doing the pivot grab. somewhere --- lmao i can't find it anymore >_<

Oh, now I get what you're talking about. There's like three different moves with the name pivot in brawl so I was confused, haha. I always thought the pivot grab was a standing grab so it came out slower than the dashing grab, so I've been dashing one way then the other and doing a dash dance grab out of my shield instead. I'm going to go try this stuff out tonight.
