In this game, speed is very important. Pit may be fast but he is not that fast especially when Metknights roam and a lot of other characters are faster than Pit. This thread is made to show a rough estimate of each attacks start up and cool down lag. The object is to know which moves are good for instant retaliation and which ones aren't. All comments appreciated. Its about time someone made this thread and Im open to discussion on my wrong numbers.

All frame numbers are done from a visual inspection

Ground moves

AAA-
Really fast start up (1 frame)
First and second A fast cool down (3 frames)
Third A has a bit of cool down lag (6 frames)

Ftilt-
Some start up lag (6 frames)
Same cool down lag (6 frames)

Dtilt-
Pretty fast start up (3 frames)
Moderate cool down lag (4 frames)

Utilt-
Immediate start up (0 frames)
Fast cool down (2 frames)

Fsmash-
Fast start up (2 frames)
Moderate cool down (4 frames)

DSmash-
Fast start up (1 frame)
Fast cool down (3 frames)

Usmash-

Fast start up (1 frame)
Moderate/slow cool down (5 frames)

Order from fastest to slowest
Start up lag:
Utilt
AAA
Dtilt
Usmash
Dsmash
Fsmash
Ftilt

Aerials

Nair-
Very fast start up (1 frame)
Immediate cool down (0 frames)

Fair-
Moderate start up (5 frames)
Moderate cool down (5 frames)

Bair-
Moderate start up (4 frames)
Quicker cool down (3 frames)

Dair-
Big start up (10 frames)
Big cool down (10 frames)

Uair-
Quick start up (2 frames)
Quick cool down (2 frames)

Order from fastest to slowest:
Start up lag:
Nair
Uair
Bair
Fair
Dair

So yea, almost all of Pits moves are fast but at higher levels of play, it usually comes down to the frame whether or not you will hit or be hit. So maybe one tactic is to lure them with a missed move and use the fastest start up move you have to start your string of hits.

wow really? maybe I should double them. i didnt think about looking at other char frame data, stupid me. Although, Im pretty sure that my ordering of moves are pretty accurate.

wow, i guess i was too tired to realize one frames goes by quickly. Would you say the MK's dtilt and pits AAA are about the same? Thanks for the ref. Ill edit tomorrow.

wow these are terrible as an estimate - remake a thread when you have actual information.
