These aren't true chainthrows, they can be escaped by spotdodging. But because it's so hard to spotdodge at the perfect moment, it's still worthwhile to try doing. Thanks for the ideas.

I was not aware spot dodging would work with Pits throws, but I will test that. Many of the throws appear that they inescapable, so I will test for myself and repost. Thanks for the informent.

It's definitely possible to always spotdodge it, even for Bowser at 0% percent. They have to spotdodge so fast that you don't even see the shield come up. An evil tactic is to use Side-B when they expect you to try another throw.

Well, I am unable to test at the moment with my partner not being accessible right now. But even so, there were many combos and tactics in Melee that were escapable provided the proper measures were done, (i.e. DIing out of a Falco/Fox DThrow to Shine/DTilt/USmash/etc), but were still very effective for the fact that the opponent will not always react perfectly. At any rate, I plan to get the list done tomorrow, and will make sure to add Sidestep Dodging to the list of tests.

I'm not saying this is ineffective. I've actually started incorporating this into my game.

On a side-note, I think character's with a fast enough A attack can stop this too.

Never do this to a Marth or Metaknight of YOU WILL DIE... Their Up-B initiates very quickly and can kill easily. Characters like Samus can put thhe hurting on you too if you try this. All-in-all it's too dangerous to do to most characters. Even Peach can get you with a full Up-B to interrupt this pseudo chain-grab.

Samus' and Marth's can eat through your shield though. Samus' can even turn your shield off. (Not eat it away but actually hit you while you're inside it.) I still don't suggest trying this unless it's very very sparingly.

Yeah she could do it in Melee too. It's pretty much the idea that her attack hits in such rapid succession that if done in the right spot it can make your shield "flicker". Once that happens she's gotchya.

When you dodge in place on the ground. When you hit down while you have your shield on.

You're new, so I'll tell you a couple rules around here.

He is right, even though Pit's semi-chaingrabbing somehow works on certain characters, but is not as effective as the other chaingrabs, but this is great for setting a combo, well it works for me.
