I think that Pit is sort of like the new Young Link because thier bows have the same projectile and rack up damage. They also lack a good killing move.

They are different though because Pit can fly unlike Young Link. Pit has a shield like Young Link but they work differently.

Pit may be the new Young Link or he may not. We will just have to find out when the game comes out.

I have changed my mind and i think that Pit isn't like Young Link very much. Pit will be much better than Young Link because he is faster, stronger, and better. They don't have many simalarities either.

The only people who are determinded that Pit is nothing like YL are the people who don't like YL. Compare Pit to normal Link. Pit has a bow, has sword, similar smashes, he's a bit smaller, lighter, probably less powerful than Link. All just like YL. The only difference is the lack of bombs, and a different recovery. I'd say Pit's up-B is much better for recovery, but not good as an attack as YL's was. So it kinda evens out. So yeah, I'd agree that he is very similar and IF there is no YL, I'd assume Pit would be the best alternative so as to stick with the same style of play as YL.

As for being his replacement, I'm still hoping either YL or WWL will be in Brawl, so I wouldn't say he's a replacement just yet. He is his own character, so it wasn't for the sake of putting a new face on an old play style, I think they would have put Pit in the game with YL returning or not, but I still think he's your best bet to playing like you did with YL if he doesn't return.

I'm not against any Link of any kind, but just comparing Pit with YL because they have similar poses, sharp-edged melee weapons, and arrows does not mean Pit & YL play anything alike. People who have playtested Pit have agreed that Pit is not like any Melee character. To say that Pit is jthe new YL just because of their cosmetic similarities...I might as well add that Pit is Brawl's Sora from KH because they look exactly the same in the facial department.

pit is like DK too.. they both have similar appendages.
XD

Hopefully, Pit at least takes Ylink's attributes. He think YLink's speed, strength, traction, etc. would fit perfectly on Pit... I think. But as for similiarities, I can't really speak in terms of attacks since most of my focus has been on Ike, Fox and Samus, but little kids shooting elemental arrows, twirling blades around, wearing robe-ish, dress-like garments is similar enough for me.

I think many of you are missing the point. We're not saying that Pit has all these physical similarities to Young Link. Pit is symbolically like Young Link. Yes, they both have a bow and small blades, but that's not the point. The point is that Pit seems to have many fast, useful attacks, but he seems to lack really killing power. Pit will most likely become an edge-guarding specialist.

Yeah, totally. All I typed in that post was "they look the same so they play the same." Did you read it? You can think that both of them having a sword is just superficial, but this means they both have the same range of attacks with smashes and tilts, they both lack power with those hits, they'll most likely prefer keeping their distance and setting up combos with projectiles. They'll be light so they'll want to play defensively, they'll have to focus a lot of edge guarding because it's the only other option considering the lack of KO power. I could go on. These similarities are what we're pointing out, and again, it's not to say he's replacing YL, but if YL doesn't return, then YL players from Melee would adjust the best to using Pit, because of everything I just listed and more.

But no, let's post more productive things like "YL's normal color is green, so is Yoshi's, I guess they have a similar play style." Genius.

QFT!
Bombs are a HUGE difference. Young Link couldn't stand a chance without bomb and boomerang spamming. And arrows were more often than not pointless.

EDIT: I'm not saying that some of the big Young Link fans won't like the way Pit plays. I myself Main Young Link and am more than a little miffed at him not appearing in Brawl, but I think I will easily find myself at home with Cpt Olimar.

My guess is many other Young Link fans will disperse to many different characters, some to Link, others to Pit, and the rest like me to something completely different and unexpected.

As for WW Link I doubt even he would be like Young Link if he's in, I'd still give him a shot though.

You know, after looking at all of the videos that contain pit, really do think that he is a "Fixed" YL. I mean, you only get one projectile, but it's a good one, though. Plus, his movements seem a little familiar...
