Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow! He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies.

Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

I was excited when i saw WARNING NEW CHALLENGA APPROCHIN.... Then i saw it was olimar... I played the first game.. and beat it... didnt feel like playing the second game... olimar doesnt seem like he should be on the same level as Mario Samus and Link though... still... i cant complain about more characters! Although ill rarely choose him... I hope hes lower teir...=P

I can't say I was expecting it but I am not surprised. There are better options in my opinion but his moveset could be creative, he is in a good game, he fits the style and he is cool so he fits all of my criteria. Plus none of my favorties are fihting for the same spot so I think he is a good addition.

You've never played Pikmin 2? Pikmin 2 was leaps and bounds better then the original and improved and added to nearly every aspect. Seriously, you should find a used copy of the game.

As I opened the Dojo, I noticed that it took a little longer to load than usual. I wondered if that meant that we'd be getting a new character today. Well, I was definitely surprised. I had been hoping that the Pikmin series would be getting some representation in SSBB, but I didn't expect Olimar (and Pikmin) to be a playable character. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they'll play like.

I never was a particular supporter of Pikmin because I never played the game (unfortunately), but the Pikmin haters tended to be particularly annoying and derisive towards it's supporters, so...

I've never played the games, but I've known about Olimar and the characteristics of the game ever since it was released, and based off of the creativity of the game alone, I think Olimar is a fantastic choice for a new character. I can pretty much guarentee that his moveset is going to be unlike anything we've seen before, which is something surely everyone should appreciate.

1)Pikmin is awesome. Play 2, it's better in every way.

2)It seems as though size doesn't matter in Smash.

3)Don't talk bad about Olimar, he kicks ***!

1st party, comes from good games, would bring unique playstyle, on list of Sakurai interest = PC.

Olimar had every conceivable edge going into Brawl's production.

Edit: This is assuming you're questioning whether or not Olimar was obvious.

As far as Ridley goes, the too big argument is debunked on the fact that Olimar and his Pikmin are no bigger than an ant. Olimar was resized for Brawl it seems.
