Pikachu doesn't have fur, it was never depicted with fur in the games. It isn't a mice either, as mentioned above, it is a Pikachu.

(btw Pikachu was never confirmed male, not sure why everyone refers to it as a he).

he is male. Ash calls him Boy all the time, plus his tail gives away his gender (tip of the tail)

DK and Fox are slightly more serious games. Pikachu is meant to be cartoony and lovable.
yeah, cuz animals seen in futuristic vehicles flying through space, shooting a giant floating monkeyheads are slightly more serious than animals battling eachother...

the premise is slightly more serious and they are based of REAL animals. There are real foxes and gorillas but no real electric mice.

yeahyeah, I was kinda kidding with you, but let's be objective here...
Pokemon are based on real animals, but they're given an elemental ability called their type.
Starfox characters are also based on animals but they have human speech and movement, and they control landmaster tanks and arwings... how is that more serious? It's all fantasy in any kind of view. Just saying...

What Keybladeguy means is that the atmosphere for a game such as Star Fox is much more serious, and serious games are commonly referred to as realistic, as opposed to Pokemon. A lingual fox flying a space ship is more realistic than Pokemon anyway, IMO, but it depends on what you consider realistic at the end of the day if we are talking about realism as in English and not a video game term.

the only problem i have with pikachu is the face expressions he doesn't really have... Like Sparky above, he looks focussed and angry... They don't really accomplish this on the Pikachu in Smash bros. he always looks te same...

but yeah, Pikachu still looks a bit poor in detail with the same face expression in almost every attack:

Pikachu has been shown with a more serious facial expression in the more recent images actually.

Mammalian Pokemon do indeed have fur. In one episode of the cartoon, Nurse Joy says this about Ash's Pikachu - "but its fur is so dry I can tell it's thirsty".

That being said, I was hoping Pikachu have realistic fur in SSB4, being a mouse and all.
