picked up Marth a while back. I have alot of YT videos up, but I decided to wait until my Marth was competent enough to go against players of my own skill level. It's one thing to best players who aren't as good, but playing with players with a variety of characters at your own skill level makes a heck of a difference.

Managed to do decently against Forward, and some other players who are significantly better than I.

I seem to do things either a little too slowly. I also have a bad habit of playing too anticipitory. I'm training myself to play reactive, but it's very difficult un-learning everything you learned for three years.

Please watch at least 2 or 3 videos from each category. It's very important to see a variety of my matches, since I hardly perform the same way twice. (Suicides, how well i'm playing, how well my opponent is playing, etc.) It's impossible to gauge a players habits, etc in a single game.

Okay firstly get Marth's spacing down, dont run in for grabs to often. Marth's a generous guy he tips at least 20% every time. But seriously you should probably work on spacing firstly. imo

lol as dumb as it sounds to know what to do and to do something are two different things. Another thing I noticed that you do not sure how often you do it but get back on the stage from the ledge differently, sometimes you got very predictable there. Marth can be a scary/ tricky mother ****er ABUSE that. I cant stress enough how well you can put pressure on someone and force them to roll or go into the air. Marth's strongest ability is his ability to juggle imo learn them!!! Get that FF'er on a platform or on FD and **** them up they really cant do anything fighting a character that isnt a ff? Force them to use their double jump then combo them to the end of the stage and edge guard. Marth is so good at air and ground control ONLY WHEN HE'S CLOSE. Stay on top of your opponent but not to close Marth's weakest positioning is when the opponent is behind him or under him. Make sure that this dosent happen. Hope this is more of what you were looking for this advice really helped me. But then again I'm a noob and dont know anything mwahahahahahaha.

I think I juggle a little too much, honestly. I uair juggle like my life depends on it, but after watching some of my older videos, I noticed that sometimes nair is a better option. Or fair > to something else.

To much juggling with Marth? Well that may be, you need to know when to go for the kill and when not to. If you dont think you can get a kill off of a juggle try and reset them and then get them into a killing position. Marth can do so much to an opponent who is coming down on top of him its not even fair. Just try and notice when you can end a juggle with a killing move or if you cant go for a reset. :D

There's really no such thing as too much juggling with Marth. Ideally, if I have someone in a juggle, I try to kill them off the top or set them up for an fsmash. Certain characters are usually better to just continuously juggle, such as Peach, because there's little risk in a whiffed uair or utilt. On the other hand, with characters like Falcon, you want to be careful continuously juggling him. His dair is fast and likely to hit you if you're not careful, and he's so much easier to edge guard than to kill off the top, it's almost a bad idea to continue juggling him when you think he can be hit off the stage.

In general, I noticed you get scared and throw bair out when your opponent is behind you. Unless you know it'll sweet spot, or your opponent is at high damage, you'll almost certainly be punished for this. Bair is used mostly for edge guarding.

You also don't move around enough. Your Marth is sort of stationary. Work on moving more often. The hardest part about moving a lot is spacing your aerials well. It's difficult to space a fair or nair well after dash dancing.

Your overall control of Marth needs improvement. I see too many grabs in the wrong direction, messed up dash dances, or ****ed up fair-uairs. It's not something to worry about, just practice more.

Finally, be careful with grabbing the edge while your opponent has his invincibility frames. It works for Fox, Sheik, Falcon, and Ganondorf, because they all have legitimate stalls. But Marth's stall (as far as I've been able to test with AR), is very vulnerable. I'd be much more inclined to stand on a platform your opponent doesn't spawn near and light shield than I would to grab the edge. Especially against good characters. If you do find yourself on the edge, and your opponent runs to the other side of the stage, get on the ****ing stage. Ledge stalling isn't to wait for a winning situation; that won't work. It's to wait for a situation where you can get onto the stage without losing. If that happens to be a situation where your opponent messes up and you get to ledge hop a nair or uair, great (be careful ledge hopping an aerial, of course; if your opponent crouch cancel grabs you, you'll wish you had rolled). But if your opponent runs to the other side of the stage you should get on the stage and resume fighting. His invincibility frames are gone, so there's no longer a reason to be on the edge.

I've watched two of your Marth vs. Falco matches. So far, I'd say you need to work on your combos. You don't seem to have a firm grasp on comboing Falco. If he's at 0%, start with fthrow, which follows into an immediate uthrow (you obviously have to run forward after the fthrow). Don't start with uthrow at 0%; you'll just get hit by dair, or shield his dair and face shield pressure.

Vs. Falcon, you need to watch out for the silly bull **** he'll hit you out of. Falcons think they're clever, so they generally try to side-B Marth out of his aerials. It's cute, but predictable. Also, juggling Falcon is difficult. Just remember that he doesn't have a variety of options while being juggled. All he can do is air dodge, dair, or jump. There's an element of prediction involved in juggling, but it's more robotic than you'd expect. Practice juggling and you'll improve at it, I'm sure.

Vs. Sheik, work on your edge guarding and your overall approach. Edge guarding Sheik is difficult, but a good way is to wait for her to up-b, then get up by pressing towards the stage right as you'd expect her up-b to hit you. If she goes for the edge, this edge hogs her. Otherwise, it's a free fsmash or free grab. For approaching Sheik, be very careful. A couple of times you were just dash dancing on the other side of the stage. Not only is this useless against everyone, it's actually a losing strategy against Sheik (and anyone with a projectile). Dash dancing is to throw your opponent off. If you're so far out of range that dashing in won't bring you within range, then why should I be worried if you're dash dancing? The trusted "whiff fair outside of punishment range" approach works wonders here. You simply whiff a fair from as close as possible such that she cannot punish you. If she runs in to punish you, dash out, dash back in, grab (or fair, but it's easier to combo out of grab, although a successful combo out of fair is more likely to kill her). If she just stands there, you can try again, or dash in and grab (dashing in and grabbing won't necessarily succeed, of course, but it is an option). The trusted "dash dance into grab" approach also works, but it must be done carefully vs. Sheik. If she dash attacks you out of the dash dance, it can hurt. With that in mind, you need to dash dance at a reasonable distance, but not so far away that Sheik is safe.
