I need peoples' e-mails to send invites; you can post it here, pm it to me, e-mail me at kmsun07 at gmail.com, or find me on aim as 'horizonflash'

Buy-in: $10

Interested List of people I know...

Tentative rules
25 yds passing = 1 pt
1 passing TD = 4 pts
10 yds rushing = 1 pt
1 rushing TD = 6 pts
10 yds receiving = 1 pt
1 receiving TD = 6 pts
NO POINTS PER RECEPTIONS
kickers will reward for distance, punish for misses
defense will be standardish; it's too hard to think of a good defensive scoring system off the top of my head =\

I want to start
1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 RB/WR
1 TE
1 K
1 DEF
4-6 bench

...but once again, this varies with the number of people in the league

I'd still like to get 10-14 people total; payouts will be determined after the head count is locked in, but second place will probably at least break even

any thoughts on rules or anything are welcome too

(OP starts here)

Anyone interested?

I'd want to do a 10-14 team league, with some amount of money involved (honestly, I'm ok with anything from 5-100 per person) just to ensure people don't sign up then drop out immediately after drafting or losing their first two weeks

if interested, post with how much $$ you'd like to do it for!

if there are some people interested but not enough to get a full league, i'll probably try to get smashers from other regions too or something

if nobody's interested i'll be a little bit sad but oh well

You draft players from the NFL, and your players get you points based how well they do in real life. The franchise with the most amount of points win.

i need a better idea of what's "cheap" (though that's not hard to understand) and what's "decent" (I have no idea what this means)

I would like at least 10$ so people don't flake like they do on ESPN and Yahoo's fantasy leagues. But if you want cheaper its okay I guess D: .

10 sounds like a happy medium

i don't like free because people don't take it seriously then tap out a few weeks into the season leading to fielding teams with all byes and killing the fun

you're going to either need to pay in advance or get one of the socal regulars to vouch for your ability to pay

i'll set up the league by this weekend, and we'll draft some time between august 24 and september 9, hopefully on a weekday night (specific time depends on when everyone is available)

i know a few more people who would play so i don't think we'll have a problem getting 10 people

brendan, and i had to press him for it in a different thread

i'm sure i could've gotten sheridan and brian's info too, but i really didn't want to go through the headache of getting money from 11 people if it was so hard to get a simple e-mail address

well this is dead but i'd like to get some advice for my $50 league

I got the #5 pick; Steven Jackson, LT, or DeAngelo Williams?

I've been leaning towards Tomlinson but apparently Williams's stock has been going up in recent weeks

what an awful spot

steven jackson though. even though the Rams' O-Line still won't be anything special, teams show huge offensive improvement when they take an O-Lineman high in the draft. Jason Smith has looked great in training camp, is probably going to start on opening day, and reports say he's been mauling in the running game but struggling in the pass game (which is exactly what you'd expect from a rookie tackle) -- good for SJax, bad for Bulger.

even though I like LT for a nice rebound, the first round is all about safe, and a 30-year-old running back is always a risk. anddon't pay for a career year wrt deangelo (plus stewart *****).

ps go to football outsiders

I'd be leaning towards Williams.

As much as I love LT and the Chargers, you gotta take all things into consideration. He's 30, he's been injured the last 2 seasons straight, and little D. Sproles has proved that he can man up and carry load if needed. While LT is still amazing, I'm definitely expecting the Chargers to take advantage of splitting the carries between him and Sproles.

Williams is freakin' good, something like 15 touchdowns in the second half of the 08' season, right? But he's in a similar boat with LT as far as the split backs go. Carolina tends to use Stewart quite a bit, which will probably hurt Williams' number a bit, but at least you know he's gonna be there putting up points on a per game basis.

In all honesty, Jackson would probably put up better numbers than Williams if he doesn't get injured. Partly because the Panther's split their running game and partly because he Steven ****ing Jackson. But didnt' he's missed part of the '07 and '08 season because of injuries? It just feels too much like rolling the dice with Jackson.

Anyways, I'd rank them like this:
Williams
Jackson
LT

EDIT: Oh **** I forgot about Jason Brown and Jason Smith... hmmmm

So my thinking...

LT has by far the best track record, which may or may not be super relevant because the knock on him is that he is on the decline. I'm not worried about sproles cutting into his touches (simply because i don't think sproles is a high-volume touch guy, plus LT has had fantastic backups getting regular touches for the past 5 years and it hasn't killed him). On the other hand, while he plays in the AFC West (CAKE), he's also playing the AFC North (50/50 as far as **** defenses and terrible ones) and NFC East (ouch), and he's @ Tennessee in week 16, along with the likelihood that the chargers lock up the division by week 12 and let him rest a bit.

Williams of course had the phenomenal year last year, and from everything I'm "hearing" (the same thing everyone else is hearing, really, just updates on the internet), he had an incredible training camp. Stewart is a great talent (from what I've seen of him in college anyway), but he's hurt again and I remember reading that the panthers have announced Williams will be the starter and the main back, rather than a more splitsy situation; how well that holds up over the course of the season is questionable of course. He has the NFC East and AFC East (both aren't desirable matchups IMO)... worst of all, Williams plays @ *** in week 16. He doesn't get a lot of catches, though he does have a super high YPC that makes me less worried about Stewart potentially stealing value from him. Also, in mocks that I've been doing, I've been consistently ending up with Steve Smith in round 2; I'm unsure how I would feel about having two players that share a bye (much less a team) be my first two picks

Jackson has the nastiest injury history, as well as being on the worst team, which is of course a double edged sword; they have to rely on him, but if they fall behind, they simply can't give him the carries that would let him do the most damage. He gets plenty of catches and all so he probably won't end up with 5 pt games, but the injury history and the lousy team scare me. He has by far the best week 16 matchup (Arizona) of the three, and has a pretty decent schedule overall. I like their new o-line changes, but I dislike that their ****ty defense might render it largely moot.

For the record, I'm not really considering WR or anything (I find this WR trend stupid if you're in the top half of the 1st round; with only 10-15 true feature backs, it's more important than ever to grab one if you can IMO), and 1-4 for me are Peterson, Turner, MJD, Forte
