PA IS BACK YO! COMICALLYTIGHTMAZING
WE knew it was coming sooner or later, but no one knew exactly when.

The time is Now (late september - Early october)
OK here's the thing.
Right now were in the process of deciding exactly where it's going to be.
We most likely have a places to hold (not the gameroom) in Drexel!
The wait is now figuring out what building it's gonna be held.
Expect this thing to kick up around Late September.

Be wary of updates. This will happen. it will be nothing less than amazing.
It will be tons of melee. Primarily melee because that's what the scene is calling out for. Who am I to oblige?

BUT there will be Brawl. Maybe not the WHOLE PA scene, wants Brawl but there's a significant amount of Smashers who do. yet again Who am I to oblige?

PLEASE POST (OR RE- POST (<3 EGGMthanks in advance) IF YOU CAN BRING SETUPS... or if your driving.)

Keep ya eyez on ya feet, and ya earz to the streetz for info on the Bi Weekliez.
(yeah i'm strate hood G!)
This will be "ComicallyTightMazing", people be warned.

Get at me.
Aim: Fatdog2417

You need to make sure this is ok with the administration, because they are jerks. The gameroom closes on weekends right? We need TV's and times and stuff. Get organized and this could happen.

Why does everyone say the staff at the gameroom are jerks?
Maybe it's because iv'e never ad to deal with the administrartion but Pak i'm going to take your word on it.

For now i'm just throwing the idea out there because I would really not like to do this for about 4 people including myself to show up.

I'm assuming you mean bi-weekly tournaments, not just smashfests. Pretty much everyday in the gameroom during fall/winter/spring is a Brawl/Melee smashfest, lol.

Yeah they are closed on weekends too, to have them open the place on weekends it costs $20/hour I believe, so they can ask employees to work the shift. Also they only have one good TV there, so people would have to bring a lot themselves. I doubt they would even let all this happen during the week with bringing all that equipment in because they always argue about electricity and stuff.

Even if we did do it on a weekend we would probably still have to pay extra for setup and the electricity bill. DREXEL BLOWS with this kinda stuff. The only success we have had with tournaments at drexel have been in residence halls. They let you do what you want on the day they give you, but they never give you anything extra.

edit: Although if we do have enough people interested and willing to pay a venue fee and bring a lot of TV's, it might work. Bi-weeklies would be kinda tough at first though because they don't like consistently opening up the place on weekends, but if we made it known that this would be happening a lot, maybe we can work something out with them.

Let me know, either me or chibo know the guy and can e-mail him about this stuff.

**** 20$ an hour... wow i don't think before i speak... but to tell you the truth i don't give a **** about it.
We nned something in Philly and this is the most common place in Philadelphia that smashers are known to not only go to frequently but everyone is around and most people have easy acess too.

i have some setups, an extra TV if needed, all I really need to know is how many people would be interested in attending. If there's wnough demand ( or if I know that there's going to be a sufficient amount of people showing up) i'll just have to work **** out. **** though I wish i was older than 15,.

Its not the staff. Its the administration, the Drexel Office of Campus Activities who are jerks. They believe that anything that costs the school a penny is not worth their time unless they are being compensated.

You probably have better luck organizing something in the dorms, because they are already staffed and don't require that ridiculous fee.

You could also get some organization to sponsor it. They have held tournaments in the CS classrooms in the basement of University Crossings.

Chibo is more familiar with the annoying nuances of the Drexel administration.

I'm so happy... you guys are trying to arrange to give me your money...

Naw, I'm jk. This is a great idea. The melee scene needs to stay alive, and it would be a great showing of PA support.

oh the office of campus activities. i really cant stand dealing with them...

i actually tried to organize something like this a while ago:
http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=159788

its complicated really, there is a way it can happen though
1. cant do anything on weekends unless its in a residence hall (like CoT3 and future CoTs)

2. game room is ideal but randomly closes on some days, and has only one good tv, and im sure the staff would start to get kind of suspicious with an extra 20 people coming every other week

3. it takes a lot of work to organize such a thing, with time that i may not have for a bit since i am starting co-op in a couple of weeks

4. i really want biweeklies to happen lol

5. im not pissed and dont mind people over my place, i just wanted to take a break cause i was having multiple people over atleast twice a week and with that and classes, i had no time to clean up my place and it just exponentially got messier and messier lol. i also have a roommate moving in soon, so i have to have it clean when he moves in and see how he affects people coming over (shouldnt be a prob, hes cool and also plays smash)

6. pakman mentioned being sponsored by and organization. well, there is one! the drexel smash organization at drexel ran by me and gotm. we have been using this group as a leverage of power to gain access to certain facilities around drexel campus.

7. pa area is really too split on the melee brawl debate, so we would have to alternate melee and brawl each time, or think of something else

8. i personally dont want to run small weeklies/biweeklies on the weekends as it would contradict with the times i go home to jersey on weekends, other smash tournies, and having a life lol. i want them to be on fridays

how do people feel about small biweekly tourneys starting at like 6pm on friday? if so, i could possibly rent out a room in a rez hall every other week for a tourney like this (man this idea is sounding so good lol). it should be pretty easy to get going. 6pm is good so il be back from work, and people will be out of school till then. they will run to maybe like 10pm? thats reasonable. my idea of a location would be where cot3 was on the melee day. only prob is we need people to bring tvs each time, but i have 2, scar has like 8000 (4), and gotm has 1. this alone makes for an awesome biweekly.

OK ITS SETTLED IM RUNNING BIWEEKLIES DAMMIT THIS IS AWESOME

btw i should be able to confirm the venue in a like a week and a half and start them later this month

Penn is a better decision since I can get the venue for free every time and probably end up with a consistent venue every single 2 weeks. The only problem with Penn venues is that there are consistently ZERO TVs. I always have my 5, but it's a pain in the *** for me to haul them to a venue for monthly tournaments, biweeklies would be impossible so I will REQUIRE:

1) A LOT of help, at least 2 other people and preferrably 1 per TV
2) someone's car every 2 weeks.

I have faith that Eggm will step up and let us use his car if necessary (that means you have to be here early every time or the tourney will fail lol). This could be a huge thing for the PA scene, and the tristate in general.

Penn's venues are also great because I have no one monitoring how many people come / threatening to shut us down if there isn't any attendance / telling me to put Brawl in / raising venue fees.

**** YOU CHIBO!
STOP JOCKING MY ****!
I want to be the one at least somewhat in charge i mean it kinda was my idea.

I can talk to a friend of mine, he drives and is usually down with Smash. Brawl or Melee (*coughkupocough*) and I may have a set - up or twp.

i think it's just the venue that's more of a problem than the setups and ****. the Tri state area is too awesome to have problems with set -ups. And if that's the case Scar i'll transport the Tv's for you.

If we did it in the drexel game room every friday, I don't see why it can't happen there. They don't really care too much unless some **** is planned in advance or something like that. Plus it's never really poplulated after 5 on fridays, but that may change because of the new semester, and new students and whatnot.

Ak always has a TV ready for use. Melee or Brawl. Doesn't even matter. I don't give a fsck.

Friday would be nice but they WILL kick us out at 9, and when they say leave you really need to turn the match off, get up, and leave. People need to understand that before they come.

thats why i dont want to do the game room. im confident i can get a drexel venue consistantly every 2 weeks, and tell them it will be every 2 weeks in advance (so its not like im re-asking every 2 weeks). im gonna shoot for myers hall. same place as cot3 melee

I know it's gonna get a groan from the OG Pa scene. (fukkin cactus lol)
but there will be some brawl activities going on.
I know how most of us enjoy Melee wayy more than brawl (some.. most of you down right hate the game)
but this isn't just for the MELEE playing tri state area. It's for the tri state area IN GENERAL.
I know many a people who blow at melee and rock at brawl, and we can't just say no **** you we don't want you there.

Melee will most likely get priority because it 's fact that MAJORITY of people want Melee.
just throwing it out there.
Brawl people are warmlywelcomed ( at least by some of us lol)

I would be interested in melee weeklies. I play brawl too but.. err... brawl sucks =-).

I go to Rowan University in Gloucester County so I mean I'm definitely up for this. It's just I'm not nearly as good as the people that never stopped melee (Freakin Eggm and HBK. UGH.)

^ Wel neither am I but i;m still ready to host.
It's not about the skill level it's about trying to breathe some life back into an area with huge pontential but very low attendance.

Yay. It's been a while since Philly had a melee tournament. Nobody is ever around anymore, I think it's a great idea to start back up the tournament seen here.

Scar as long as its saturday or sunday I could get there early and help you move the tv's with my car. Provided its a melee tournament. But yeah if you could hold biweeklies on opposite weekends of alukard of course i'd be there early to help setup. I'd also bring my 2 tv's. So thats 6 as a base then whatever people bring. Not bad. 0 venue fee sounds HOT. I work Friday nights. That sounds like an awful idea. Saturday/Sunday ftw.

iv got my regular supply of TVs back in philly, so i have 2 ready for any event, so bump that base set to 9 TVs. philly is crazy awesome. we have lots of tvs lol
