I wouldn't even dream of entering 64 if it's five bucks but if it's $2 (very likely) or $3 (probably not) I could be convinced.

If you want a good turnout, you'll have to convince a lot of people to play 64 again. If you want the casual player, make it lower.
I do see your point. I guess we'll just have to see how much interest people actually have in 64 and what everyone else thinks...

hey mio

would you be opposed to raising the entry fee for brawl singles? $5 buy ins are getting really boring and now its starting to feel like there's nothing really seperating big tournaments from small ones/there's more on the line so everyone is always playing at their best.

just a question obviously, lemme know what you think

This is a good point, Mike. I'm actually all for that, because I know that even with 84 entrants at the last tournament, the the prize pay-outs weren't extremely high. That could have been because I gave money to 4th place, but if I raise Brawl to $7 for singles and $14 for doubles, that would probably generate a substantially bigger prize pot. Anyone against raising Brawl to $7 per person?

And for 64, I don't understand. You guys said you wanted a 64 tournament, and now that I'm trying to legitimize one you guys think it's too expensive. If you just want to enter for ****s and giggles that's fine, but if there are enough people that actually want serious 64 competition then I will be catering to their needs. I'm shooting for April, so I have plenty of time to advertise this to the socal 64 community. If you don't want to spend an extra 2 bucks because you know you're not gonna place, then practice up or don't enter. 5 bucks is not a very big amount of money.

Oh, my bad, I totally misread that: I thought you meant getting 64 people exactly, like that dude posted. Yeah I'm smoking crack, sorry for being ********

I left my wallet in
there are like two people who take 64 seriously in socal. ismokeherbz and little england. make it 2-3$ so that a lot of melee / brawl players will enter just for fun and nostalgia. and THEN LE/herbz can take their money

MC imo

make 64 $2 maybe $3. it would be more fun for everyone if the bracket was bigger. at $2 entry i guarantee lots of people would enter for ****s and possibly make the pot larger than a $5. im counting on you brawl noobs that dont read the boards for that latter part.

and i think raising brawl entry fees is a good idea lol. makes it more interesting.

Mio, you make N64 2 or 3 bucks and I’ll enter it, guaranteed. There’s no chance in hell that I’m going to get top three but it would be great if I had a chance to play the N64 version competitively.

Mio... just make it 2 - 3$. Not everybody has five bucks they can spare.

Besides, the bigger turnout will probably benefit the "pro"ssb64 players since the pot will most likely be bigger. Also, look at Nexus; it advertised ssb64 for quite a while (with the entry fee being five bucks) and what was the turnout.. ? Like 5 people? LOL.

And let's get real. There are only, like what.. 2 people who take ssb64 seriously in Socal? Nobody really cares for the competition the game has to offer. As far as competition goes, the game is dead. People are just going to enter for fun. Nothing more.

So, you could make it five bucks for the certain five people who would enter or 2 bucks for the probable good portion of the Melee community (and maybe the Brawl community as well). The choice should be obvious.

if there were enough people that still played n64 ssb, I would play, don't really like playing online much though. Bad MB experiences and GGxx#R.

Melee > 64 >................... brawl...

And I don't think the number of attendees exceeded 10 people. Not to mention, the guy who got first in the 64 tournament doesn't even play and entered just for the **** of it. Such fierce competition huh lol.

I'm all for more people and a bigger pot overall. However I wouldn't say no one cares about the competition the game has to offer. I care, my friends care, and I'm sure people like Malva care...
SSB64 may not have as many crazy advanced techs but it can still be very competitive.

People just tend to move to the next new thing, I mean we all know Melee > brawl but there are still way more brawl tourneys :/ SSB is even older so we get nothing.

64 is 5 bucks.
I'm pretty sure even those who are going to the tournament just for 64 (lol) would rather have it 2-3 bucks. I gave my reasons in an earlier post but... whatever. Your tournament. Do what you will.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Street Fighter II World Warrior started the competitive scene as we know it back in 1991, but I guess if were just talking about smash then yeah 64 started it all.

And I guess I can wait on 64 registration. I'm very much in favor of having it be 5 bucks, but if ismokeherbz is the only person that is going to speak up between now and April then I may reduce it to 3 bucks. But if you come just for 64, you will still have to pay the one-time 5 dollar venue fee.
