Otaku Petition - Right to Wed 2D Characters

Otaku have petitioned the government for the right to marry 2D characters.

The online petition in question:
“We’ve no interest in the 3D. If we could, we’d like to live in a 2D world. However, with current technology, this is not possible. So at the very least, can we have marriage to 2D characters legally recognised? If this were to come to pass, I intend to marry Asahina Mikuru.”

The most interesting comment we see in response is this:
“I’ve been married to Arcueid of Tsukihime for five years now. I’ve no doubt that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. As someone who lives in two dimensions, I’d very much like to support this measure!”

Currently the measure has 530 supporters, with a million seemingly being the target for it to be presented to the diet, should they tear themselves away from trying to ban 2D characters for long enough to hear it.

Seriously, I don't know which is stupider, the fact that someone even thought about trying to legalize this or the fact that people are SIGNING the petition!

2. You can't marry fictional characters.
3. Who ever said nobody had the right to marry somebody who doesn't exist?

It was obvious, but I guess some people are just a little bit special...

I believe "can you **** it?" would be the general criteria for Alabamians to determine whether marriage is applicable. Then it has to be straight, have Judeo-Christian values, or vote Republican. As it stands now, neither CRT nor LCD monitors meet any of those qualifications.

@HMBG: Regardless, they certainly condone it. I honestly cannot think of anything that's actually taboo in the realm of sexual practices over there. For a country with such an emphasis on honor and formality, they sure are perverse.
