okay, after playing a bunch of falco and foxes yesterday, i think i need a refresher in edging the firebird firefox

now be forewarned, this is for sheik while ON the stage. i need some help trying edge guard a fox or falco while i'm still standing on the stage. sometimes there isn't enough time to grab the ledge to do a b-air or n-air or whatever.

i think my only options so far are...

1. running d-smash. if the fox or falco sweetspots, it won't hit and sometimes you might get burned yourself.

2. shffl'ed f-air. only really works on fox i think. i've only hit a rising firebird with the f-air when they're like really close to the level.

3. the chain. i only use it to frustrate the fox or falco and rack up damage. you can't really gimp with it.

4. the needles. again, if the fox or falco sweet spots, they don't usually hit. has anyone hit a spacie while riding up the sides of the stage with needles? if so, vids...pleeeease.

5. up-smash. i've done this before. if the fox or falco doesn't sweetspot, you can up-smash and it'll pop them up for a f-air. that being said, it's tough. they have to miss the sweetspot riding up the stage.

anyone else got ideas? short vids or matches are definitely appreciated.

not a sheik expert someone more experience will chime in but.

short hop needle generally will hit. fromt here you can drop down f-air or anything else you see fit.

chains horrrible.

you can also jab-f-tilt-f-air if they're just going straight up with ff and over shooting.

btw generally you have enough time to grab the edge. i mean they shouldn't be ff if you didn't knock them off, just turn around wd edge hog or something.

chain is generally not a good idea. d-smash or d-tilt can work but as you said, you can be burnt. really the best option is to work from the ledge or off the stage. reverse sh needles are pretty quick and safe. don't be afraid to go out and get them.

It really depends on how much time you have, because if I'm stressed I'll usually do the running d-smash, but it can both be ledge-cancled and punished. Therefore, the best option is usually the reverse sh needles imo, which, when practiced, just as fast and more effective as a follow-up. It is also harder to punish
