Just downloaded Project M, love the mod overall! Hopefully I won't get shunned for saying this, but I'd like an option to toggle between Melee-style air dodges and Brawl-style. Hopefully such a thing wouldn't be too complicated!

why though? The Brawl air dodge was one of the biggest reasons I downloaded Project M, and I just don't see why you would want the Brawl one. The Melee airdodge opens up more options for movement and speeds up the pace of the game singlehandedly.

To answer the question: a toggle option will never exist in an official PM release, but you may be able to find a custom mod for it.

However, the Melee style airdodge offers a lot more utility and play options than the Brawl style. If you aren't familiar with it, you may want to look up some YouTube videos showing off the stuff you can do with the Melee airdodge.

What an argument, guys, what an argument ! Truly an award winning performance here ! I can't find words to describe how stunned I am by your points, and I would never, ever think about addressing them thanks to the expert way you've worded it.
I wish this community had more people like you, I do ! Oh, all the pointless drama we could avoid !

@OP : the PMBR is most probably not going to go down that road. P:M was fundamentally designed as a rushdown game, and the Brawl airdodge is by nature only a defensive maneuver. And a good one at that, which makes it harder to rushdown. Sure, it can be used as an approach, but there's no denying that the defensive uses far outweigh the offensive uses. However, there is a code out there which replaces the neutral air dodge (the one where you don't move, that nobody uses) with the Brawl airdodge. It's not supported by the team, but it's still out there, and if this is how you want to play P:M, go ahead and use it. I think it's called "hybrid airdodge" or something along those lines.

"Oh man I got called out better backtrack and pretend I was just le master troll"

And the second post you responded to wasn't even referring to you, unless you're implying that MrSunshine3 is an alt account of yours, in which case refer back to "le master troll"

Brawl dodge is so nasty and spam-able. Its like a constant get out of jail free card in the air cause it has no draw backs when used. Plus it has no other use other then dodging. Melee dodge has so many, Soo many more uses; and I don't just mean the wavedash. This option will never exist.

Ah, the hybrid air dodge, the one where no directional air dodge = brawl air dodge and directions is melee. I never understood how come that idea was scrapped.

Probably because Brawl AD is too powerful as it is, and would especially be in the case where the overall level of fall speed between characters is much faster. This means escaping dangerous positions with far greater ease, which is not something you should be allowed to simply do. Reacquiring good stage position should be a difficult thing to do and I feel that B-AD detracts from that entirely.

Of course, I should at least be fair and mention that B-AD in Brawl induced no landing lag of any sort (beyond the normal lag) which is a huge part of what makes it incredibly safe. If it was implemented in PM, I imagine it would have the same landing penalty as special fall meaning that you wouldn't then be able to just evade pressure so effortlessly.

Brawl air dodge would ruin this game. People would just mash air dodge in the middle of combos.

I've love to see your counter argument though.

Captain obvious derp-a-derp version : It's easy to say "lmao the brawl kids are so susceptible" when you're the one baiting them. So what would a brawl kid conclude ? That the P:M kids are pricks ? I couldn't care less what you guys think about my game, just don't be a **** about it.
But apparently that is way too much to ask for.

#OneUnitAsLongAsMyMoneyIsNeeded ?

Yes this post sounds incredibly grumpy. Just missed the only class I care about this week johns.

This was the correct and only worthwhile response. There's no point in arguing Melee>Brawl or vice versa and it wasn't what the thread maker intended.
