Opening Smash Balls

It's tough playing as Sonic. I think he was meant to be an item-based character...

In any case, I've gotten decent using the Blue Blur. When playing fun matches against friends, we sometimes turn items on. My favorite is the Smash Ball, although others groan. It seems Game and Watch has an extremely good move for opening them (his b-air). I know Sonic doesn't have anything nearly as effective, but what would be the quickest method of breaking a Smash ball? It seems I can whack it two or three times and it won't open, but by this time an opponent is near enough (and the thing has been cracked enough) that they get a hold of it.

None of us nearly play with items, I don't think anybody would really know.

Maybe Fair and Bair?

It breaks with 2 bairs.

When I play with items, I find just SH bairing the smash ball to be the easiest.

3 Fairs (Youll only need to connect like 1-3 hits with your 3rd Fair)
2 Bairs
2 Uairs (?)
2 Fsmashs

Thats assuming the SmashBall just spawned and hasnt been touched yet by anyone except you.

Honestly, it sounds like that's what they're doing to him lol.

spindash > B-air
spindash > F-air

fair all the way. try to knock it off the stage where you're faster in the air than most others. try to break it off the stage. if you have it off the stage and you're falling too far down but it's still not broken, get underneath it, Up B spring and use Uair. Trust me about the off the stage, that's the best way for sonic to break em without much interference. Assuming you hit it a few times to get it off stage, the hit you connect with while it's off stage will probably be the break. Zoom back and kill with super sonic.

But i agree with Mark as well. It's probably more fun mark's way.

This is what I do and I get it almost all the time what you do is use is Sonic's mid-air sidewards 2 attack ( you that attack when Sonic spins his body around like Falco) hold 2 when doing it and when Sonic's done it'll blast the smah ball away to the end of the screen and that'll give you enough time to get it back!

I always do my Down b to jump to Fair. Try it. It works. Hope I helped. ^^
