Online possibilities

Probably just a dream because I know for sure Sm4sh isn't going to be the "Melee online" I was hoping for (still buying it). Brawl's online was pretty disappointing. Felt very rushed. I've always wanted to play Melee online. I know it'll probably be on the list of lowest priorities but do you think you can improve it? Maybe a new online engine? More options like a tournament play online mode where you can find others with Project M? Turbo mode online? Ooooo the possibilities.

The problem with online is how tedious it is to reroute Brawl's features to a new server, the fact that they would need to manage such a server, and finally; I here it's kind of costly. :/ I'd be ecstatic if it were accomplished, but it's not really something I see.....at all. (Unless of course the PMBR mages find some uncontrollable tome of joy hexes, and cast it upon SD cards across the multiverse.)

Edit: Actually, I recall it being said that it's never been rerouted in the slightest, soooooo.......yeah.

To this day I will never understand how they got it so right in Mario Kart but so wrong in brawl.
Because Nintendo puts real effort into making things good with Mario Kart and doesn't care about Smash enough to test the game and make sure it's not an unbalanced mess.

What do you mean unbalanced? We have a lot of variety in our brawl tourneys like White MK, Black MK, and Regular MK lol jk

Or because it's incomparably easier to make a party racing game feel good online than a fighting game. The position of other karts in Mario karts are only estimates, because you don't need frame-perfect accuracy on your opponents' positions to play a racing game. Also, Brawl is most certainly P2P with the server only doing matchmaking, so its lag is only due to bad netcode and changing servers would do nothing.

Meh idk. They made a alternate costume engine and a clone engine. Maybe one day they could mess with the crappy online.

Brawl has input lag. Mario Kart doesn't, but let's say I throw a green shell at someone who is about to turn, and that green shell hits them directly. It doesn't work, because in real time he's a bit further than he actually looks on my screen. That happened to me most of the time, so I ended up aiming a bit ahead of them when I shoot a green shell. And I also noticed a difference with red shells offline and online. I'll throw a red shell, and almost all the time it will run into a wall. I throw it offline, and it'll follow the course until it gets close enough to target the person ahead of me.

Probably didn't explain this very well, but here it is. =) But yeah, MKWii online is less tedious than Brawls by a long shot.
