In response to all criticism towards my first post... I will try to use a visual explanation to explain my point of view.

Ok... lets go,
This is FPS: http://www.racketboy.com/retro/doom-jaguar-full.jpg -Doom
This is RTS: http://havard.no-ip.info/pics/news/starcraft.png - Starcraft
This is WoW (err, I meant western RPG): http://www.coldheat.de/archiv/bilder/equi/wow_ui1.jpg - the devil

Now,
This is fighting game: http://www.consoleclassix.com/info_img/Street_Fighter_2_SNES_ScreenShot4.jpg - SF2
This is party game: http://ndex.simgames.net/screenshots/cube/mp4/mp4_4big.jpg - Mario!!!
^^I hope we agree that Smash Bros is a mix of these last 2 genres.

Now, I'll give rep to the person that can give me a difference between the two categories of games that I've created. (Hint: I've already mentioned it... in one of my posts!)

WHY are you debating about this with ever "yay" sayer when the title cleary states its a "are you for or against this " thread? If your against on-line for W/E the hell reason than make a "SSBB shouldn't have on-line" thread an don't just jump around with w/e bs you come up with as to why it isn't "good".
To Black/Light: I'm sorry, the reason why I replied to your posts is cause in it you replied to some arguments that came from the ''Nay'' camp. I don't go out and try to bash any1 that says ''Yay'', I simply give a reply to the replies.

EVEN IF it's laggy as dirt or has crappy service. . . how the hell does that effect you, someone who seems to be against playing online by any means? Im done here. . .
The golden question... if online play is totally crappy, then it won't affect us at all. However, I do not wish you guys a bad online experience, so I'm talking about correct or slightly crappy online experience here. Online play has an effect on the offline people because online play on a fighting game kills the offline community... and I noticed that you don't seem to agree with me on this yet, so my reply to you is... DOA4!!!

EDIT: sry, forgot that rep system was removed... oh well I'll give cookies instead!

Er... the first group is specifically made for one person per machine, while the second group is made for multiple persons per machine?

I personally can't wait for online Brawl...there are times when I just want a quick Smash break, and when my friends can't play it's a real bummer. Now I can jump online and play whenever I want.

Even if they use friend codes, I'm sure everybody on here will post them for all to see.

I would say Yay.

The idea in the first post doesn't making any sense. Probably in your belief it does (and the Nay'ers as well), but you know many people will disagree. Yes, lag is a problem, and maybe the Wii doesn't have that much power to put all those items, stage changes and other things while playing online, but I wonder how do you know it will lag to the point it's not beneficial to be on their? I not being absolute but, maybe if you have a video of Brawl that proves it's gameplay while playing online isn't good, yeah, then it might change my view or others. Aside from that, it would be great to play online, especially facing people online around the world and you barely moving anything (unless you are rich, you'll just be wasting huge amounts of money for a buttkicking anyway or just to find out that person is weak. Instead, you can check them out online and go to the next victim), but from recent posts that talks about it saying that it'll lag even worse is mostly exaggerated. Maybe so, but I need proof on Brawl that you'll have problems. I don't agree with the leaderboard however, but I don't care, I just want Brawl.

Yay, definitely. It might make it possible for Nintendo to make "patches" or system updates to correct bugs. Anyone ever thought of that? How cool would it be if a certain bug (ie Mewtwo and Ice Climber freeze gliches) were discovered, and could simply be eliminated? Of course, it could also be a bad thing. If they found something everyone considers a normal strat, they could patch it. Those that play online games like StarCraft should know what I'm talking about with patches.

Exactly. Some ppl could say that they have fun playing Halo in splitscreen mode, but it kills the ''recon'' element of the game because you can simply look at your opponent's screen to see where he is.

Nobody knows... it was only stated that there's factors that increases the chances that it could happen.

Patches are definitely a double-edged sword... some companies do great stuff with it, while others simply don't. Good patches for Brawl will probably be a good thing. However, don't know if Nintendo will allow patching on the Wii though... since the Wii has no HD.

Um, hello? SSB PJ64 pwns. Its online. If that can be online then SSBB can be online. Plus nintendo already determined that SSBB would be online. Were in the 21st century remember? We have good technology and we can prevent that lag!

I know for sure that this question has been answered numerious times, but if there was Brawl online, would there be any need to go to tourneys anymore?
BTW we probly will still go to tournys but maybe not as much. Did you know that there are still SSB tournies going on. Infact there was one early this month!

Considering that tournaments still happen for online games, and that the pro players probably won't be too happy with ANY lag, yes, tournies will still happen, and people will still go to them.

About brawl patches-
While they might mess up a little bit on some, they could still see how many people are playing (a.k.a. if less people play after a patch, it = no good). If it's that important to the Brawl community that some elements stay how they are, I'm sure the problem would be back to normal in no time. Also, they could try something I just thought of that I've never seen implemented, but I would think it could be very effective to any online community:
Patch Feedback. There could be accessible polls to each aspect of a patch, and you could state how you feel personally about that certain part being changed, so it would end up as the community overall being 100% for new patches, instead of worrying what they might ruin. Just a thought.

Well, its not just lag.

There's lag, latency and a host advantage, but there no way to tell if it will be good until we actually try it.

Ooh. Bad idea. If Nintendo made patches based off of feedback from player polls, we could expect the game to be ruined. Here's why: The majority of players of Melee (or most in games for that matter) are n00bs. Basically, what you would get is a bunch of n00bs making requests that their particular character should be enhanced, or some other character should be nerfed, based off of the problems they encounter.

I would prefer for Nintendo to observe high level play, and the defined tiers to make their decisions for patches. The pros should set the standards for cheap moves- not scrubs
