...using the Down+B to recover. The ability to rise eludes me. I can hover, but otherwise I go nowhere.

You can already see where this topic is going. Halp?

I do mash, but for I always seem to only go about the height of Luigi higher, then the lag puts me lower than I started. But I guess i'll just keep tinkering. I'm not one to let something like this stop me from using the Weeg.

are you jumping before you do the nado? nado is momentum based so it is much much easier to gain height off the tornado if you jump and tornado (dont slam control stick down cuz that might cause you to fast fall)

It uses momentum, so do it immediately after your second jump. Repeatedly press b and steer yourself with the control stick.

Sounds like you aren't Jumping before the Luigi Cyclone. By Jumping right before the Rising Cyclone, you'll ba able to go much higher much easier.

^^^ That.

Make sure you launch the Cyclone before the apex of the jump.

Just practice this on FD in practice mode set the computer as Luigi and the human as Pikachu and set urself to 80 damage and Have Pikachu FSmash you, you should end pretty farway of the stage in a perfect situation to practice Luigi's Tornado Recovery.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
I guess people HIGHLY rely on the fact you have to jump then AFTER mash the down b. Theres also the thing of just mashing down b it's self and while still saving the second jump. People who use jump then rising tornado thing probably gimped 90% of the time. look at boss'es vidz, he ***** without usage of second jump to rising tornado.

Point is : learn how to mash faster so you wont have to use the second jump and incrase ur chances of getting gimped. just sayin;

The problem when I do it is that I can never remember to do it. It is conterintuitive, pressing down to go up. It takes getting used to.

Now that you've said that, it does make sense why it's hard for some people to get the hand of it. I've always used Luigi's recovery like this, so I never noticed.
