It's been on my mind for a long while now, and another topic reminded me a short moment ago:

Does Luigi's DACUS have more range/speed than his Hyphen Smash? With the Wiimote+Nunchuck I can pull off uncharged DACUS but not charged ones, so I'm not able to find out on my own. But I've seen DACUS being used with Luigi and I must say that it doesn't look all that different. The way I think about it, Luigi's Dash Attack horizontal speed isn't any faster than his Dashing horizontal speed, so why would Canceling it give him more range? On top of that, Luigi's traction is already super low... You can travel from one end of Final D to the other with only 4 standing Hyphen Smashes. That's considerably more distance than a Roll.

Can anyone with a camera make a quick clip showing the difference in distance? 'Cause from what I've seen, it's negligible.

I honestly think that Hyphen smashing is simply faster and more useful. I've been testing with the DACUS a bunch lately, and its essentially the same thing in more buttons. I'm not saying it has 0 uses, but in all the matches I've tried to implement it, a Hyphen Smash would have worked just as well, without any of the risk factor. I'm going to say don't bother with DACUS for Luigi, because I tell you I've tested it to death, and Hyphen is just more useful.

This is a crappy question, but really.

I know what the DAC is. But what the hell is Hyphen Smashing?

I've been doing some experimenting and it always seemed the DAC moves just a LITTLE further because of Luigi's sliding. Hyphen Smash sort of stops short and the DAC allows me to slide farther. The only problem with DAC is the risk of messing up the timing and getting a dash attack or dash grab. :/

HS is less risky, but in my mind, the DAC goes farther.

Yep, Delta, running Up Smash. But you don't even really need to run, you can Hyphen Smash from a stand still. Luigi will slide forward while charging an Up Smash without the Dash animation. Of all the characters, Luigi has the best Hyphen Smash because of his traction.

It's safe to say that Snake's DAC is more useful than Luigi's DAC. It's also safe to say that Luigi's Hyphen Smash is more useful than Snake's Hyphen Smash. It's also safe to say that accidently Dash Attacking with Snake is not as bad as accidently Dash Attacking with Luigi. It's at least reasonable that Luigi's Hyphen Smash is equally as useful than his own DAC. I would like to finally have it settled; that Luigi's DAC is not worth the risk and that his Hyphen Smash is a better alternative.
