Probably to make the most of sales. Hyrule Warriors needs to sell some Wii Us in September so they moved Smash to October even though it's most likely done with translations at the same time as the Japanese release. Or maybe Japan just wants it a month early like usual Smash Bros Titles? Who knows?

It's disappointing of course, but it never got a concrete release date, unlike Brawl. I guess if you say "Fall 2014" it sounds like November, and they wanted to stress it was coming earlier than that?

Yeah I'm trying to make as much as sense as possible out of this, but at least we have a date now.

I don't think Hyrule Warriors is the reason for the delay, since it comes out only 7 days before Smash. I don't know about other people, but I won't be buying Hyrule Warriors day 1 since I'll have Smash instead just one week later and don't have time to play two new games at once.

I still feel like it might be for a marketing reason.

I'm not angry about the delay, but I am however upset that Japan is getting the game almost a month before everyone else, spoiling any and all surprises we could have discovered for ourselves in the process. :glare:

Because they have to translate all of the Japanese text into English and that can take a while. They're probably also going to use the opportunity of only Japan having the game to test out the servers for online play before everyone worldwide is using them.

Translations probably aren't the problem (I'm betting that they're already finished). I honestly think it's a combination of debug testing, server testing (remember what happened with Pokemon Bank? Although they did release it on Christmas...), and not wanting to release it before Hyrule Warriors.

20 days does suck, but you got Hyrule Warriors to make fill in 7 of those days, plus we already know the full roster, so the only thing to spoil is stages/ect.

That'll probably be mostly peer-to-peer, matchmaking, tracking, and login servers aside. This is no MMO or server-based FPS (BF4, Counter-Strike.)

Debug testing can be done by the Japanese launch date, so I don't think it's that.

Putting all your eggs in the Sal Romero leak basket?

No, we won't know the full roster until the Japanese game comes out honestly.
