no, it's wrong because you used the demo screen as a reference for what the size of the actual character select screen will be, not to mention that most of believe there will be several more characters than this

look, i hope you are right, this is all just speculation, but you can't assume this is how it's gonna go down. the fact of the matter is, i doubt sakurai would just throw his current design out the window and make a brand new character select interface "just 'cause". also, we see things on the dojo and realize that this is how the game is gonna look, while there is still room for change, we can't say that this ONE screenshot isn't REALLY in the game cause we disagree with it. i hope as much as the rest of you that the character boxes get smaller the more characters you get, but i wouldn't get my hopes up if i were you...just in case. and with that, i'm off.

You're assuming that Sakurai is too lazy to add any more characters.

Plus, why create a brand new select screen with ONLY the characters we know of when you have the perfectly usable E for All demo screen? And for just one screenshot at that!

Character selection screens always get smaller in fighting games when new characters are added, they do it all the time. Plus the overall width of the icons is too weird, and he also mentioned how there will be more than 1 unlockable, assuming everyone on Dojo is a starter, your theory doesn't allow more than 1 secret character.

I think you're being to pessimistic, I mean Sakurai is no idiot, he knows what'll sell, and 2 less characters than Melee would be a BAD idea.

Man your stupid, do you think or do you just post things? Everyone knows that that's not the starting roster, except you, it was from the E for All Demo and many character weren't playable to not spoil there moveset, like Kirby and Zelda. Also Pokemon Trainer and Dedede are gonna be starters as well, there will be no less than 40 playable characters in Brawl and to think other wise proves your ********, and yes he's gonna throw this design out the window because if you saw the demo for melee it was like this and he throw that out the window to make a better one so why not brawl as well?

This thread is kind of dumb, the OP isn't listening to anyone, and probably doesn't realize that he's using the demo character select screen..

You want proof that it isnt the starting roster and is the demo screen?

Zelda, Snake, and Ice Climbers are all in later screenshots. Which means, Sakurai didnt take all these screenshots in one play through. He first did the navigation screenshots and then some gameplay ones, and then after did the roster and stage screens separately.

The scenario is likely this: Sakurai did all the screenshots but since he used the final roster to pick Snake, he knew he couldnt show it. Perhaps the starting roster in the game even includes a few characters that havent been profiled yet, and so Sakurai couldnt use it either. So his team loaded up the demo just to get screenshots of characters and stages we already know about...

ok maybe not revealed, but i have a good idea. thanks to the screenshot of today's update (assuming they don't change it) of the select character screen, i did some work on paint and have a guess at the number of characters. now remember this is only speculation and i HOPE sakurai changes it to allow more. here's my pic, i stretched the background out some to allow for widescreen. in red are my hopefuls for the one slot i had left:
