Because nobody else was going to do it, so I guess it's up to me.
I'm still working out how times and stuff should work; because of timezone differences, I'm not sure how feasible it is to just get everyone together at an arranged time and play the whole thing out in one day. For now I'm saying next Saturday (2nd March) at about 5pm GMT (12pm EST/9am PST) as a rough start time, but that probably won't suit everyone. How do people feel about the idea of spreading it out over the space of 2 days or so?

I think this covers most stuff, but if I left anything out or you need clarification on something, yell at me here.

Basic info:
- Prize: Bragging rights! The most special prize of all.
i would have offered premium as a prize, but... - Sign up by posting here! Sign-ups close 30 minutes before the start time.
- Bracket: https://challonge.com/NZoneUltimate1
- (If you have a Challonge account, tell me your username so I can include it in the bracket. If you don't, it doesn't matter.)
- Discord: ask for the invite link
The boring rules-y stuff:
== Rules ==
- 3 stock, 8 minutes, 1v1
- Double elimination bracket
- Each set is best of 3. Winner's finals, loser's finals, and grand finals are best of 5 instead. (may change depending on how many sign-ups we get/how quickly we get through everything)
- Starter stages are picked in the usual fashion; players strike from the starter list in the order P1-P2-P2-P1, and whatever stage is left at the end is played. The player to strike first is picked by a coin toss.
- For game 2+, the loser picks 3 stages from the full stage list, and the winner picks one of those stages to play on. (see this post for more on this)
- You can't pick any stage you've previously won on during the set.
- Alternatively, any stage from the list can be played if both players agree to it.
- If the game times out, the match is resolved first by remaining stocks (most stocks left wins), then by damage (lowest damage wins). If stocks and damage are both equal, a 1 stock, 3 minute match will be played to decide the winner. If the game goes into Sudden Death mode, ignore it; the result of Sudden Death won't be counted.
- Miis are okay, but you can't change your loadouts mid-set.
- I will have an arena set up for people to use if they wish (which also makes it easier for me to verify results), but you can also set up your own in the interests of getting through the tournament more quickly. If you do this, you should save all replays in the case of any disputes, and responsibility for ensuring the ruleset is correct (and liability if it isn't) falls on the person that created the arena.
-
no johns about lag, go buy a LAN adapter or something if it's bugging you
