But I honestly thought that, while MKX was where they really started to get gross (and hilarious in Johnny's case because HERE'S JOHNNY still makes me laugh to this day), MK9 kinda started it.

Smoke had some really horrifying ones.
Kung Lao has one that's terrifying.
And let's not forget Noob Saibot.
