They do not look too bad, but they do give me the Jump Force feel.
I do not like this feeling.

I frequently forget it exists.

I mean I'll probably check it out whenever but I can't say I ever cared for a remake of Mewtwo Strikes Back.

-Nice big breasts
-Mostly useless skillset
-Middling speed

I mean, it's a pretty damn good replica. What else could they've done?

I guess the style just appeals to me, though I can understand where people are coming from when they say it's unnecessary. It's bringing on a bit of a nostalgic '90s feel for me which I love... I'm surprised that the majority have an aversion toward it.

This was actually the first I've heard of it, lol.

I really liked the original Mewtwo Strikes Back (recently dad told me stories how much he hated taking me to watch it in theaters, lol) and I have interests in watching Evolution.

But yeah, it's definitely pailing in comparison to the quality and hype of Detective Pikachu.

I have an odd love for CGI/Silicon Graphics/plastic models, which is why I probably love it: stuff like DKC, the FFVII cutscenes, when KH3 was running on Luminous and when NBA Live 10 had plastic player models for no reason (lol). I guess it's all the time I spent watching Rankin/Bass as a kid.

But yeah, it's definitely pailing in comparison to the quality and hype of Detective Pikachu.

I guess it is a bit antiquated in that way; would've seemed more at home in the '90s.

My prediction is it's gonna be the next Mario/Rabbids where everyone is crying about how weird it is but they actually end up liking it.

I think is easy to see why this movie is getting **** on:

-Another remade story
-Trying to appeal to 90s nostalgia doesn't work with late 00s budget graphics
-Most are tired of Kanto and any Gen 1 related stuff
-This was the last chance of them to do a movie with Sun & Moon content; CGI would have worked better for the UBs instead.
-It is Mewtwo for the 3rd time (4th if you count the Mewtwo Returns episode, 5th if you count the prequel story, 6th if you include the Mastermind Mirage Special)
-Obviously overshadowed by Detective Pikachu
-Some 2D scenes will not look better in 3D unless they go nuts with the budget.
-If it is a 1:1 copy it will be criticized for being unoriginal, if they change something it will be criticized for changing the story.
-Strikes Back simply isn't that good tbh

These two are objectively false reasons as to why it's getting ****.

People were HYPED to see Mewtwo show up again back in the Genesect movie, and the backlash for it is not because it's another Mewtwo movie, but because it wasn't THE Mewtwo they've known from Kanto and instead a new female one.
The fact that this is literally the old Mewtwo back in the spotlight would be seen as a GOOD thing.

And Strikes Back is seen positively, especially it's Counterattack counterpart.
But for THAT reason, there's going to be some shade. Why?
Because the dub is going to be more like Counterattack like how newer Pokémon films take after the Japanese ever since 4Kids lost the license rather than the Strikes Back we 90s kids grew up with.
So we'll get technically a better structured movie (Mewtwo is less of an outright "villain" and the whole "fighting is bad" message isn't forced down our throats), but none of the charm of the original dub.

If Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolved had been released in 2013 instead of Extremespeed Genesect it would have gone over way better.
