At this point it's looking like a disk recovery. Seagate's pitching it at $700, which is demoralizing enough that I don't want to go digging around for counteroffers right now.

Losing the space doesn't hurt my feelings, but that drive being largely a backup drive sucks. My personal projects are all fine - got that **** on at least three drives now - but there's still years of my life tied up in that thing, all with access closed off.

Yeesh that hurts. All that matters is your projects are safe. I lost some old stuff too when my computers stop working. If you truly can not get them to work, sometimes you got to see them go. If you try and you get it to work, well good job. You must have a lot of drives.

I can't remember what it was specifically, but he put extra emphasis on the word "key" for some reason.
