It's Titan action in this episode! Time to stop Rod Reiss in his Titan form from reaching Orvud District!

The anime added a scene that showed Titan Rod's perspective as he went traveled toward the wall. Everything looked darkened green from its perspective, but then you can see a large orange glow on the top of the wall. That orange glow was most likely the humans. From that, we can deduce that this scene now gives us an idea how Pure Titans can detect humans.

That same scene also gives us a glimpse at Titan Rod's eyes as he briefly lifts his head to look what's ahead. It was quite unnverving to see Rod's eyes like this. Most of the time, he was keeping his face on the ground, and in the manga, we didn't even see Titan Rod's eyes because of that. To show Rod's eyes for a brief moment like that during the Titan POV scene was a nice addition that actually left me feeling intimidated by those piercing eyes.

Back inside the Orvud District, the Garrison squad leader questions Erwin's plan of keeping all of Orvud's citizens inside when the Titan approaches, but Hange explains the reason for it: Titan Rod is abnormal, and it seem to be aiming for a high population density area. If everyone were to evacuate Orvud right away and head to Mitras, then Titan Rod will change directions head towards Mitras, breaking Wall Shina and eventually penetrating into Mitras with disastrous consequences for its citizens.

It also turns out they kept that scene with Eren attempting to control Titan Rod with his Founding Titan powers but to no avail. They show it as a flashback here. Nice to see that it was added here in the middle of this chill scene: it brought some comedy into the mix with Eren unintentionally insulting Levi by accident while he tried to scream commands at Titan Rod, with the air punches he did was meant to replicate what he did to the Smiling Titan in the Season 2 finale.

The next morning, the plan begins with an evacuation drill taking place, but of course, the citizens don't seem eager to do it since there doesn't seem to be any danger... yet. With Titan Rod closing in, the Garrison begin to fire their cannons at the incoming Titan in an attempt to hit it at the nape, but it's no use since they aren't used to fighting Titans (because they haven't been going beyond the walls to gain that Titan-fighting experience like the Survey Corps do); their shots only leave gaping holes on the Titan at most. I gotta say, those holes from the cannonballs on the Titan looked quite grimsly: almost looked like scabs from burns, and it added to the creepy factor of Rod's Titan.

Hange and a few other SC members prepare all the gunpowder that will be needed to initiate a later plan once Rod reaches the wall. Levi, Jean, Sasha, and Connie are tasked to move out for a bit while Hange, Erwin, Historia, Mikasa, Armin, and Eren tie up the gunpowder barrels with the ropes. Erwin reminds Historia about how she'll become queen once this is all over, and he also tells her that it'd be best if Historia stays out of this fight for her own safety. Historia refuses, and she mentions how she wants to finish her own fight. After all, the people might not necessarily accept her right away if she doesn't do something worthy of claiming the throne, and her killing her dad is the action needed to convince the people. While part of this scene was put toward the end of the episode as a flashback to make way for Eren's big scene, the anime still shows the full dialogue. It was a nice dialogue between the two characters with Historia re-affirming her resolve and Erwin expressing his insecurities and doubts on the situation, especially with the next queen putting her life on the line.

Eren watches Historia talk to Erwin, and he mentions Historia has become quite strong. He adds that he always thought Historia was among the weaker ones, but in the end it was him that ended up being the weak one. He goes on to admit that while he hated the Titans with all of his heart but found out he had Titan powers himself, he didn't think much of it and thought it was something that made him special. However, after everything he just went through in the cave, he has come to the conclusion that he wasn't all that special despite what humanity thinks of him otherwise. After telling Armin how the three kids he sees from the top of the wall remind him of themselves the day Wall Maria fell, he then turns to Mikasa and is reminded of how he was unable to do anything when their home was destroyed; this realization adds to his inferiority complex he is going through, thinking he really is nothing special in light of what just happened to him. It is then it leads to this important scene:

Why is this scene important? It's one of Eren's major turning points in his character development. It's this moment where you can see Eren becoming a more mature person. By punching himself over and over until Mikasa intervenes to stop him, Eren is literally punching the brat out of himself. To be more precise, he's getting rid of the bratty self that he was throughout Seasons 1 and 2; Eren's words, "Just finishing off a useless brat. I hope he's dead for good," even symbolize how Eren wants to get rid of that ugly part about his character and wants to become someone new. This scene is the climax of Eren's depression in this arc, and it shows how it's in this state where Eren's character really starts to develop.

Anyway, back to the action, Titan Rod eventually arrives at the wall. At this point, the anime now switches to more 2D depictions of him as he nears the wall. The transition to 2D in those scenes was nice; the 2D is used to emphasize the dramatic actions Titan Rod does, while the CGI was used to give that creepy flair of Titan Rod's crawling as he headed towards the walls in the last episode. After lifting his body from the ground upon grabbing Wall Shina, we are greeted to the grotesque image of Titan Rod's half-face that looks like half of his skull was cut from the front (because most of his face burned up from being dragged onto the ground for too long), complete with the half brain, half tongue, empty eye sockets, empty nose-bone, and blood dripping out.

Even most of his front area has been burned away from being dragged onto the ground for so long. Because there is no ribs or skin to keep the exposed insides contained, some of his organs end up spilling onto the wall; now that's just gross and disgusting. The anime really nailed it at showing just how gross and disgusting Titan Rod is, and this scene was the culmination of it. The manga never showed those internal organs spilling onto the wall, and so the change makes sense once you keep those anatomy facts in mind.

A brief filler scene not present in the manga takes place where Eren tells Armin he's ready to take on Titan Rod, and we see Eren looking more confident and sure of himself. Looks like hurting himself not only got rid of that bratty self of his, but also gave him a quick wake-up slap to make him stay temporarily focused for the task he must do. He transforms into his Titan, with the three kids watching from the distance (those kids served a nice parallel to the scene when EMA saw the Colossal Titan, only here, these kids witness a Titan twice its size.)

As it turns out, the real reason Erwin wanted Orvud's citizens to stay was to be bait for Titan Rod to arrive. When Titan Rod arrived on the wall, Erwin's plan was to have Eren use his Titan powers to throw a large amount of gunpowder into Rod's mouth so that the nape would hopefully explode (throwing the gunpowder barrels at the nape wouldn't be enough to stop it kill it because of its size, hence why having it explode from the inside it the best approach). Erwin even speculates about the mouth's location and how it might be hard to find because of how the Titan kept its face on the ground for so long. The main risk of the plan comes from how there may not be a mouth to begin with.

Eren eventually finds Titan Rod's mouth as it lifts its head to see Eren. He then places the pack of gunpowder barrels inside the mouth, and the barrels explode shortly after, causing Titan Rod to explode into hundreds of tiny pieces. I kinda wish the anime did the manga version of this scene where Eren throws the gunpowder barrels into Titan Rod's mouth instead of just placing them there. It made the situation a bit more clear in that Eren it gave Eren a presentable way of running away after doing it once the explosions went off (although the manga doesn't show Eren running away shortly after). Here, Eren went with the completely risky factor of putting those barrels inside the mouth, thus leading to a moment where it looked like Eren was caught in the explosion. He definitely made it out alive thought because of his regenerative powers of his Titan, but I think it could've been presented a bit better to make it look like Eren got out fine. We did see Eren covering his neck with his arms when the explosion went off, so we was trying to protect his neck and nape from the explosion. We didn't see how Eren made it out of the explosion either in the manga, so I guess I shouldn't be analyzing this specific thing too much.

With Titan Rod now exploded into millions of tiny pieces, the next part of Erwin's plan initiates where the Survey Corps needs to fly out and cut down as many of those pieces as they can in the hopes one of them is the piece that contains the nape. Historia is the one to pinpoint the nape: it resembles a glowing magma rock of sorts compared to the other pieces. It then leads to a badass action where Historia goes after Titan Rod's nape as it falls to the ground:

^Now THAT'S some awesome animation there!

She cuts the nape, thus killing Rod in the process. This leads to Historia suddenly receiving a flood of Rod's memories thanks to her royal blood: she sees Rod locked up as a teen because he wanted his dad to use the Founding Titan to kill all the Titans, Rod's brother Uri assuring him everything will be fine once he gets the Reiss's Titan power, Rod seeking comfort from Alma, his servant and Historia's mother (yep, that's her), Frieda assuring Rod that she won't give in to her ancestor's ghosts, and Rod reacting in horror at seeing Alma dead.

She falls onto the cushion of a wagon, and we then witness this badass scene:

Here she is, everyone! Meet your future queen of humanity, and the one who landed the finishing blow to that giant Titan that was on the verge of destroying the Orvud District!

This entire scene ended up being Historia's most badass moment, and it was great to see it all animated! Good stuff!

The scene then transitions back to Kenny, who has managed to escape out of the collapsing cave alive, but at the cost of having half his face burned and probably some more injuries we aren't aware of. There is a flashback sequence of some of his major moments in his life, and then we see Levi confronting him shortly after Kenny finds a tree to rest on. Kenny presents Levi with the Titan serum, and the episode ends.

Damn, this was an awesome episode! It adapted the Titan Rod battle from the manga really well, and the action was on-point too! Historia had her most badass scene here, and it showed just how much she has changed. I also loved how the anime adapted Eren's defining character development moment from the manga quite perfectly; they even made Eren punch himself a few more times than how many he did in the manga just to really drive the point home about how Eren wanted to get rid of that bratty self of his. Some of the other characters like Erwin, Levi, and Hange had some nice moments too. Titan Rod ultimately proved to look better in the anime than in the manga; that is, the anime really went all out in making him look as creepy and grotesque as possible, with the CGI being utilized to emphasize its odd movement pattern. The use of 2D for Titan Rod when it reached the wall was good to, and it gives me hope...

The anime will balance out the CGI and 2D animations yet again when they animate the Colossal Titan again for the very next arc; I can imagine the anime switching to a dramatic 2D animation of when Titan Bertolt kicks Eren off his leg and into the wall)

I'll admit that the Kenny sequence at the end made me very worried because the way how the anime quickly flashed through those snippets of his flashback made me think the anime was going to skip most out of it, so I was very relieved when I saw the preview at the end of the episode; next week's episode will adapt Chapter 69 of the manga to its entirety, so that means we'll be seeing all of Kenny's backstory. I'm really looking forward to it. Not only does this give a lot of insight to Kenny's character; it also delves into the main meat of Levi's backstory as well.

How am I supposed to google translate that if I don’t know the language??
Google Translate does have an auto-detect language function. :p But whatever. It's Irish, which Google Translate usually doesn't do too well with anyway. I like to intentionally use unusual turns of phrase like I did before just to throw it off even more. :p

;) Bien, bien, y tu? xD Have you been taking classes or not?
Well, I found this wonderful book on the interwebs and I have been going through it:

I ADORE Madrigal's! It places the Spanish lessons in a very strategic order, so I'm learning a lot of grammar rules already and can guess Spanish words quicker than ever based on conjugate rules. I still have a TON to learn, but I think I'm doing it right this time.

I also am making flash cards and plan on buying a Spanish vocabulary book to complement Madrigal's book.

I stopped with Duolingo a couple weeks ago. It was getting to the point where I didn't like the order the lessons were placed in anymore, so I switched to self-study.

Actually I haven't studied Dovahzul in a long time.

I should really go back to doing that.

It may be a fake language but if I know how to **** talk you in dragon tongue, then that's proof I'm superior over you. :troll:

Actually I'm just a TES nerd.

I am learning the language still. :p
You're close
So-so is "asi- asi" and instead you should write "y" instead of "e".
U should also be accented, but I don't blame you there since English keyboards can't do accents. The "i"s in my post also have to have accents too, but English keyboard is English keyboard lol

He never said he thinks it could be right. Just that he needed confirmation from his sources.

I'm maintaining my belief that the Box Theory is a load of nothing.
He implies it’s possible. He thinks it would definitely go to ken and incenroar but the square character is still seemingly in one way or another.

My bet is it’s geno and due to some complication he’s possible to be moved to dlc or his inclusion is meant to be very secretive

Well yeah anything is possible but given the teasing for Isaac and the possibility of an SE character by Veggie Burger himself, i'm leaning on the Box crap to be fake. Not to mention DLC isn't worked on until after the game releases.

Vergie also doesn't have all the info about the game even if his track record for this game has been spot on. He didn't know about K. Rool so I'm willing there's stuff in the pipeline that his sources don't know about.

BECKY JUST WON THE SMACKDOWN'S WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

So replaying Tales of Symphonia right now makes me miss the game so bad when I played it on the Gamecube. I'm worried about all the time I'm gonna be spending to get the trophies before I attempt Dawn of the New World and Tales of Grace f

Also corocoro states there’s 5 stages we don’t know about so take that as you will.

If incenroar and ken are in, neither need a stage. So who knows what’s left
