Trying Mega Man 11 on Switch and ehhh I'm mixed.
The new mechanics are cool in theory but the problem is they force it on you way too much, which is counter-intuitive because both the Power Gear and Speed Gear share the same cooldown and if you overheat, it takes ages to recharge, and you have to wait for a full recharge after an overheat.
There are many sections in the level where Speed Gear is literally mandatory to pass an obstacle but if you are playing for the first time and don't know about them and run in with like, half Double Gear charge, you're either taking damage or straight up getting insta-killed depending on the obstacle. Speed Gear also makes Mega Man and his shots move slower too. I feel like he should be a little faster during it. This screams of the sloppy design from Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 3, and that one obnoxious boss in Mega Man 2 where not having enough of your special weapon left going in would screw you over in some situations, only it's with your gear meter. The only saving grace is that at least Double Gear auto charges, but it charges quite slowly especially after an overheat, to the point where the only safe way to play the game is to wait a good ten seconds or so for the gauge to fully recharge whenever you are safe.
Sliding is also really finicky this time, half of the time he stops as soon as the sliding animation starts and I don't know why.
IMO the main fixes they need to implement are either not have mandatory Speed Gear puzzles and just have it be a helpful mechanic, or just greatly buff the Double Gear recharge time. Power Gear is pretty useless right now since you need Speed Gear so often, at least as far as this one level is concerned. The mandatory puzzles are at odds with the sluggish recharge time of the Double Gear.
Also there seems to be a notable input delay and sometimes I get random, but severe performance drops that at least half the frame rate for a good few seconds. It's not even in specific problem areas of the level, it seems completely random. I don't know for certain but I'd wager those are Switch specific issues.
I've tried for close to an hour to beat it and haven't even reached the boss yet. I was planning on recording a run but I've done three recording takes so I'm worn out.
Also you fight the mini-boss twice and it's health is pretty beefy and once again, they want you to spam Speed Gear to the point it's easy to get stuck in cooldown, especially if you weren't fully charged going. Overall the stage is a long slog.
Not really related but I thought this was funny.
