![Snake :ultsnake: :ultsnake:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: Snake got me interested in Smash. I only ever owned Nintendo handhelds growing up while my home consoles were always PlayStation and Xbox until the Wii came around. MGS2 was a huge part of my childhood and I've played other MGS games here and there too (I really need to do a full marathon of the franchise one day). I never knew about Smash before this so I thought it was a fan-made animation at first, lol. I ended up getting Project64 on my old PC and playing Smash 64 with a keyboard. I got really good at playing like that and it served as good practice for Brawl when it came out.
![Sonic :ultsonic: :ultsonic:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: The most hyped I've ever been for a Smash announcement, along with maybe Rosalina. Sonic has always been one of my favourite characters since I was a kid so naturally he was one of my most wanted characters. I used to watch fake confirmation videos and clue hunts all the time about him. It took up way more of my weekends in my dad's house than I'd like to admit (we didn't have broadband in my mother's house until my mid-teens, so for a good few years, broadband was a special privilege every second weekend for me). While I did use mobile data almost exclusively for checking the Brawl Dojo (seriously, I would only have to buy phone credit like, two or three times a year if it weren't for the Dojo lol), I actually first found out about Sonic through a magazine I bought and couldn't believe my eyes. I couldn't stop talking about it until the game came out and I watched the trailer every weekend I was up in my dad's house, and genuinely looked forward to being able to watch it again each weekend, if not multiple times. He's still one of my favourite characters to use and looks even snappier in Ultimate.
![Mega Man :ultmegaman: :ultmegaman:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: I was more of a Mega Man X fan than a Classic Mega Man fan, and even then, I only played through the Mega Man X games on the same year this announcement happened. The only Classic games I played at the time was Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 2 on iOS, lol. However, I generally really like Mega Man's character design and since I this was the point of my life where I had decided I wanted to have a career in the gaming industry, I was very well-versed in franchises I hadn't played much of and was able to pick up on all of the references and such, so I still really appreciated his trailer and found it really exciting because of that. It also helped that this was a pretty rough time in my life so having this announcement and Smash Wii U/3DS in general to be excited for was a really nice way to get away from all of that. Mega Man is also one of my most used characters in Wii U/3DS, I really enjoy playing as him.
![Pac-Man :ultpacman: :ultpacman:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: I admittedly was kinda iffy about Pac-Man at first. Not full-on against him since one of my best friends really wanted him, but didn't really care too much, despite having some experience with the original game and the Pac-Man World games. However, his trailer really sold me on him and I still think it's one of the best put together newcomer reveals in Smash history. I really enjoy playing as him too.
![Ryu :ultryu: :ultryu:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: I'm not too big on Street Fighter (more of a Tekken guy), but I have played it quite a few times, mainly SF2 and SF4. I knew enough about Ryu though (such as him being the King of Crossovers) to really appreciate what they did with him in Smash. I always knew how he should play if he got in, and they captured that perfectly. Once again, fun to play.
![Cloud :ultcloud: :ultcloud:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: Definitely the most mind-blowing reveal for me since Rosalina (even if you expect a character you really want, having them actually getting revealed is still mind-blowing). I just didn't think he'd ever have a chance. I was never big on FFVII, but I knew of Cloud through Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Dissidia, and Crisis Core. I like him well enough (at least his earlier incarnation), but my brother is really the Cloud fan in our family so I was really happy for him. Cloud was for him what Rosalina was for me in Wii U/3DS. And I could really appreciate how faithful he was, even having a Dissidia reference (his dashing animation).
![Bayonetta :ultbayonetta: :ultbayonetta:](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
: I don't recall being all that shocked mainly because she was one of the characters that I always saw in the speculation discussions. I had played a bit of the first game in a friends house and watched videos on the game when it first came out, and played the Bayonetta 2 demo, so I once again was able to appreciate how faithful she was. She's probably my least favourite to play as of all of the third parties but is still pretty high up for me when compared to the entire roster.
