I could really use a second Hinoka. I dropped her from my Flier Emblem team for Sumia but now no one has Hone Fliers lol. And I don't want to fodder away my only one.

Before the big show happens, lemme ask y'all something: What were your reactions for each 3rd party character reveals?


- I had no idea what Metal Gear was at time but I was surprised when I looked into it. I liked this bad ass enough that Brawl is responsible for making me a Metal Gear fan.
- I was jumping around and had a huge smile on my stupid face when I saw him the Smash Bros. Dojo. I had to tell everybody.
- I thought it was uber awesome. I didn't have much interest in the Mega Man series at the time but I knew he was a big deal.
- Wasn't surprised at his reveal, mainly because he was the ONLY character in my mind the moment I heard Bandai-Namco was working on Smash. Made me really happy though.
- Yes, that leak ruined the surprise, but before him I laughed at the idea of a third party company getting a second character (which of course shut me up). Trailer was hype though.
- Probably the most mind blowing of the bunch considering that Square Enix has been treating Final Fantasy fans like nothing on Nintendo consoles, let alone Cloud of all choices.
- I was shocked alright, considering she's from one the most mature game series out there (even the fact Nintendo publishing Bayo 2 didn't convince me she was going to be added).

Why H'aanit and not the better character" Cyrus?

Because I've come to the conclusion that, if any(and only one) Octopath character were to at all playable, it would be H'aanit. Here's my logic:

Ophilia is a cleric, Cyrus is a black mage and this has some overlap with other characters in the roster, Tressa has a weird class that doesn't really translate well into a fighter, Olberic is the same as Cyrus but much more, Primrose has a support class outside of shadow magic, Alfyn is another healer but he does have an axe, Therion is a thief but he could overlap a bit with Sheik and Greninja.
Not to say they wouldn't be unique, but the slight overlap or lack of combat focus just makes them lower on the priority list.

H'aanit, meanwhile, has Bows and Axes, the former is used by two characters(and their clones) in exactly one move only(I already talked before about how I want an actual full archer in Smash) and the latter would be a new weapon completely. Her class skills are simple enough for bow attacks, though the thunder magic can be used to give her moves lighting effects, and Leghold Trap could be an interesting gimmick. But what really makes H'aanit shine is her Beast Summoning. I've seen concepts already of a Pokemon trainer fighting while summoning Pokemon on the spot so this would be just that. There are so much mknsters they could use in her moveset that really no other character could even hope to replicate what she can do.

but really, i don't think we'll get an Octopath character at all tbh

I played Showdown yesterday with Alucard and found out that my Mightyena and Oricorio are surprisingly effective, so I went test them out today and in the first match the dude already rage quitted because he couldn't hurt my Oricorio lmao

Just finished Daroach Guest Mode, and with that, I finished the second trio of Star Allies's DLC...while I haven't finished the first one lol.

In all, I had alot of fun with all of them, they all play differently, but each of them have something that make broken in a fun way.

I can't wait to see the new trio and what they will come up with. 'cuz so far, Star Allies just nail it with DLC.

I wish I could pull on the Miverva/Hinoka banner that's coming up but I got baited by the Legendary Lucina banner because Legendary Ryoma and Kinshi Hinoka were on it. I'll just have to save what I can.

Also I kinda forgot about it but I got a 5-Star Jagen on his banner on the free summon...so that's something.

Activision got the license for Tony Hawk again and are returning back to the franchise's roots, this first screenshot of the new game looks fantastic.

I was pretty consistently hyped.

With Snake, I hadn't played any Metal Gear games at the time, but I recognized him from Nintendo Power issues about the Twin Snakes and the Game Boy Colour game. I was more excited for the fact that third party characters could be included, but his addition encouraged me to get the Twin Snakes, and he became one of my favourite Smash characters.

Sonic kind of goes without saying - I watched that trailer regularly, and even watching it now gets me excited.

Mega Man was huge - I figured that Capcom had practically abandoned the character given everything that was going on with his franchise, so seeing him make a Smash appearance with a really accurate portrayal was incredible.

I think everyone expected Pac-Man when it was revealed that Bandai-Namco was working on the game. I wasn't too thrilled about his potential inclusion going into the reveal, but making him a Namco arcade museum of sorts made him much more interesting.

My excitement about Ryu was dampened due to the leak, but seeing him in action made up for that. Between the light/medium/heavy attacks and the directional inputs for his specials, he felt really unique while staying true to his series.

I haven't set aside the time to play Final Fantasy VII yet, but Cloud was one of those pipe dream characters that people would want even though it seemed like it would never happen. He was a huge surprise, and it got me really excited for the final Smash direct. If Cloud was just the build-up to it, then it had to be good.

As for Bayonetta, I voted for her in the Smash Ballot, and Bayonetta 2 was a big reason why I bought a Wii U. While I voted for her, I figured she stood no chance and mainly wanted to support a character who I thought would transition well into Smash. Maybe enough support on the Smash Ballot could make them consider her for Smash 5, I thought. The Corrin reveal was disappointing at the time, and the start of Bayonetta's trailer made me think that a fourth Kid Icarus character was being added and treated as the ballot winner, so finding out that Bayonetta was actually going to be included, with a moveset that was incredibly similar to her source material, was something that a complete shock for me, and something that made me overjoyed.

I thought it was super cool despite never playing Metal Gear Solid beforehand.
I was not really happy about it lol, I wasn’t really a fan, still not but I’m ok with him in.
This was pretty cool.
I was kinda indifferent to his reveal since I honestly saw it coming.
This would have been cool if I weren’t spoiled for it
I thought it was ****ing cool cause I wanted him in, but didn’t think it was possible.

If you have a ton of extra resources, Jagen+Refined Berkut's Lance+DC+Glacies+Horse Buffs actually makes him a scary threat.

That steep cost is the only thing keeping me from 5*ing Best Old Man.

I'm lacking a spare Berkut and Hector for that. I could go grab the Berkut on the right day, but Hector at this point would require money. And the first spare Hector I get is going to either Clair or Hinoka so I would need two or three more Hectors at that point.

Everything else is easy for me though, and I could probably run a Brazen skill in place of DC.

Now that I think of it, he's basically Horse Clair in a way.
