I'm just shocked at how massive the flaws are for Hori's D-Pad Joy-Con. Not only all the things they said even before it released but the fact it drains the Switch system's battery even when it's off and there's a report it might have FRIED one person's system. And were talking about an officially licensed product.

Is the Switch's original split D-Pad really bad enough to get a real one?
About your last comment. It depends on the games.

The split D-pad works very well when playing games like XC2 and Fortnite, that you don't need to click the D Pad many times but need precision.

For Classic platform games like Shovel Knight and Sonic Mania though, yeah...

The Pro's D Pad is somewhat just slightly better.

I better off just go and buy a new Joy Cons lol.

I allocated thirty orbs for the banner. Got nothing but like, five Jagens. No five stars RIP.

I have about 120ish orbs left for the upcoming Minerva banners though. She's basically the last hero currently in the game that I REALLY want but don't have.
I have 230 orbs and I plan to spend them on the Hardin banner.
Great, now I need to add "bang a girl while playing Green Hill Zone" to my life bucket list.
GOTTA GO FAST! GOTTA GO FAST!

I think this is one of those situations where we need to just let it go, and move on. Neither side is going to back down until the other gives in, and nothing good is going to come of making Shiny feel like he has to listen to the recordings so we will accept him or whatever he wants.

Let's just change the subject instead. @FE Heroes people, anyone having much luck on the legendary banner, or bothering to pull on it? I got Ishtar, who was promptly fed to Leon for Odd Atk Wave, and legendary Lucina who is unfortunately -atk, so I'll have to put some thought into how I want to make her work. Not going to pull on it any more since I'm not a fan of the legendary hero banners. They're good if you don't care who you get, but they suck if you want anyone in particular.
I used about 60 orbs on the first day of the Legendary Hero, and I finally got my most wanted unit from it (as well as building him for his best build the same day):

This samurai is a monster on the player phase! With his +Atk -Def IV and Life and Death 3, he can one-shot almost anything. The only thing he needs to make him better is Moonbow, but I don't have units with that skill right now, so I have to wait on it for a bit.

I was also thinking about pulling Winter Lissa for Bold Fighter fodder, but I think I'm still going to hold on her for now. In fact, I think I'm done with the Legendary Hero banner for the time being. I'm probably going to go back to the second Summer banner and try getting another Summer Takumi for merge reasons or a Summer Camilla or two just for Hone Fliers.

I just want Octopath music. If it got a stage I would nut.
Better yet, have the stage have a special music gimmick that, whenever it's playing a boss theme, it plays one of the eight different introduction themes.
All the battle themes are ****ing fantastic and not having them in Smash would be Sakurai's biggest mistake.

I’d pay to have all 8 characters as assist trophies just to see them in HD

I bought a little battery powered sensor bar to use with Dolphin emulator for like €3 and it arrived today.

Works like a charm, now I can play Wii games with a Wii Remote without having to keep my Wii U turned on and reconnecting a controller to it every 15 minutes.

Hey guys I'd like you to rate my switch library out of 10 and recommend me up to 3 games please. Think this will help me decide what to buy and maybe get rid of my anti-mario bias I created latter half of last gen. (Not including for mario kart)

In order of pruchase.

Physical: Breath of the Wild, Rayman Legends, Fire Emblem Warriors, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon 2

Digital: Shovel Knight Treasure Trove, Steamworld Dig 2, Bayonetta, Hollow Knight, Okami HD.

Get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Octopath Traveler. Then you’ll have a great library.

Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2 are the only games you have that are of interest to me. The rest I don't know or don't like.

If you're looking to get rid of this 'anti-Mario' bias, I suggest Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey. Both games are great.

Otherwise, Pokken Tournament DX and ARMS are pretty good if you're into fighting games, and Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is pretty good too, if you don't already have it on Wii U. Octopath Traveler has a downloadable demo you can try out, though I couldn't really get into it.

So Super Bomberman R reached 1 million units sold.

How did Konami celebrate this? Well, just what every other game company would do: Have Bomberman bungee jump off a bridge.

With the big AAA game Botw, and some great action games like Bayo 2 and FE Warriors...
I'm gonna give your lineup 8/10, tbh your library isn't that diverse enough, but still pretty good nonetheless, if you just want some games to kill time (Like A LOT of time) I recommend RPGs like XC2, Shining Resonance Refrain, and future titles like Tales of Vesperia and Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 4.
You see to like 2D and 3D platforms... and a bit of action games.

Probably games like Super Mario Odyssey, and Fortnite (It's free btw, you can just download it lol), and the JRPGs I mention above...

Now here is my Switch game library
Physical:
  • Cave Story +
  • Splatoon 2
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (With Expansion pass)
Digital:
  • Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment
  • Sonic Mania
  • Overcooked
  • Fortnite
Rented:
  • DOOM (No copy now, but has game data in my console)

Get Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Octopath Traveler. Then you’ll have a great library.
Thing with mk8 is that I already played a lot of it and the new content isn't enough for me so it's always just there as very low priority. Bought Splatoon 2 instead for that online multiplayer game b4 smash bros.

Octopath is so long and I'm mixed on what I heard form the reviews but it's definitely on my radar. Need to try the latest demo first just still had no time yet.

I'm only rrly into Smash fighting unfortunately and MK8 doesn't have enough new stuff for me. Hyrule Warriors I felt like I shoulda bought instead of FEW but at the time I didn't know HW would still be worth more and would enjoy it more than FEW, but yh despite me playing Wii u version only its still high on my radar. I dunno if I would have bought FEW if I got HW first tbh.

Welp. I think I'm really gonna have to buy Mario Odyssey despite me skipping DK TF on Wii U and is one of 3 ports I wanted....and since I have a few 2D platformers I think DK can wait yet again.

Welp, I finished all 8 stories from Octopath Traveler. Even though I'm pretty sure I still have stuff to do, I'll give my impressions on the game, and on the spoiler I'll talk story related stuff.

So first I'm going to say that Octopath Traveler is my first turn based JRPG. I've played games like Pokémon and Mario & Luigi that could be considered turn based RPGs, I played real time JRPGs with Xenoblade, and strategy RPGs with Fire Emblem, but never a "normal" RPG like Octopath. Coming from a noob experience, I really liked it! Battle system felt really cool, the boosting mechanic and the breaking mechanics were really well implemented in my opinion, and the boundaries of the combats were expanded in different ways with every new boss battle. Possibly the worst part were the random encounters, but it's a minor nuisance.

One of the best part is the presentation, it's beatifully done. However I must say that the sprite graphics are both a blessing and a curse. They are good because they make it stand out, makes the game more memorable, and some sprite artwork it's really beautiful. However, some story scenes would have been way better if they were 3D modeled, because the limitation of the 2D sprites really took away the effect they could have had. I have no complaints about the enviroments though, those really stand out.

I also enjoyed the music and voice acting. Apart from the combat themes which are great, I really loved that they gave each character their own theme. That's something I really enjoy from fighting games, so having that in this game was certainly a joy, because having certain cutscenes with their themes in the background felt good. And the voice acting was on point, specially for Olberic, Alfyn and Cyrus.

Now moving into story points, I'm going to rank the stories from favorite to least favorite, but of course in spoiler. If any of you guys have finished Octopath I'd want you to read the part at the end because it's something I want an answer for
1- Olberic: it was the first story I finished and my favorite. Olberic it's a really cool character, and seeing him travel to find the reason why he's fighting was exciting. That duel on chapter 3 was probably my favorite part.
2- Primrose: "My name is Primrose Azelhart, you killed my father, prepare to die". It's a simple story, but very effective, specially because Prim is a really good character. I liked that the story tried to go to the cliché of "did revenge really fulfill your heart" and all that, but she went trough with everything. I still don't know what the hell Prim's father knew so he had to be killed, I'm guessing it will have to do with the question at the end.
3-Cyrus: he's a mix of Miles Edgeworth and Layton, with all the logic and puzzle solving, and I loved him. He was also rather funny with his problems with girls. And he ended up not giving Therese the d, that was the only bad part about the story.
4-Alfyn: "We like Greg Chun". God Alfyn is such a likeable character, even though his story wasn't anything special, it made me get sentimental. Nothing special I can say about him.
5-Therion: the search of the 7 3 dragon balls stones. The highlight for me was the relationship between Cordelia (WHO THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHY AREN'T YOU A RED HAIRED) and Therion. It ended with the typical "you have nothing because you are alone in life", but Olberic story also did that so whatever.
6-H'aanit: she was my least used character in the game. She's a good girl, but it was a bit boring. Also I don't understand the point of chapter 3, I got some herbs to fight the red-eyed monster but I didn't need them at all during the fight lol.
7-Ophilia: pretty boring and really predictable. I admit that the ending was really sweet and touched my heart a bit, but Lianna and Ophilia did some stupid things... I really hate when characters do stupid stuff lol.
8-Tressa: "The real treasure was the journey we made all along!". Complete filler and irrelevant story, I couldn't care less for Tressa lol. I did use her on my party quite a lot, but still, I didn't enjoy her story too much.

And now, for you guys who have finished the game, the question...

Where the hell is the Gate of Finis???

I thought there would be a special chapter where all the characters stories collided because it got mentioned in several stories. Some of them leave plot point unresolved (Why the hell did they kill Primrose's father, what happened to the apothecary that saved Alfyn, why was it important the diarie of Tressa, where did the Red-Eyed monster came from, what the hell were the cultist from Ophilia's story), and in 3 stories they mention it specifically. Cyrus' story was all about it, Olberic got betrayed because apparently the Gate was there in Cornburg (Or however it's said, they localized the names so I don't know if that's properly translated), and the 3 dragon stones Therion get are for opening the gate of Finis. I refuse to believe this game was planned to have a sequel, so where it's that gate? Maybe none of you have the answer though, I dunno.

So that's my Octopath experience, good 60 hours to finish. I'll try play a little more since there's some stuff I missed, but I don't think I'll try 100% it or something like that. I recommend it, was a fun expierence. I don't know what to play next though, hum...

Glad you enjoyed it. Now I can recommend FF to you(mainly 6 because Octopath is basically an homage to it) and Chrono Trigger. Though I should warn you that, even though they're great games and, imo, have a much better narrative than Octopath. Octopath is, like, peak JRPG gameplay to me, I think I'm gonna have a hard time finding a game where the combat is as much fun as this game and Path Actions are something other RPGs should try doing.

I disagree with the idea of 3D models for cutscenes, it would have been too jarring and just not make sense when the whole point is to look just like a 16-bit RPG. I also find sprites to have much more charm than 3D models(please bring back sprite-based FE). Though I do wish they had made more "special" animations, I know it wouldn't be that simple but you never see stuff like characters picking up items in cutscenes and the only that holds a weapon is Olberic, it just looks silly to see a bunch of soldiers shoot invisble bow and arrows and for characgers to not draw their weapons before boss fights(they already have those sprites and Olberic does it anyways, why do the others onky raise their fists?)

As for the spoiler, I have only finished half of them, with H'aanit on Ch3 and the 3 remaining ones having their Ch2 completed, but I already know the postgame spoilers
The Gate of Finis is where the postgame dungeon takes place, now that you finished all stories, you have to finish two sidequest chains to unlock it. It'll appear in the map on the Highlands section and you can fast travel to it.
In there, it explains how all the stories are connected and there's not only a boss rush, but also a 2-phase super boss that requires you to use two parties for each.
I won't say anything else as you should see it for yourself, though if you're having trouble finding out what sidequests you have to do, there are some guides online that are spoiler-free regarding the dungeon.
