I'm just saying that when the Dragon-type Gym Leader is more challenging than the Dragon-type Champion of the same region, there's an issue. Clair's Kingdra alone makes her a tougher challenge than Lance.

Can't be much of a challenge when my Ampharos took out her Kingdra easily. :v

got a bit of a dilemma here to make and i want opinoins of the others in this game :V

apparently one of the chieftain of one of the tribes around here that were friendly with wants us to go on a raid to this outpost over here, its a small outpost so its nowhere near a base and its about a 2 day trip there, and 2 day trip back...but i don't know what to expect here :V there could be siege weaponry or motors or just some really big and powerful stuff here

we also don't have any form of protection, just some base guns to fulfill a battalion, i don't know their numbers or even anything like that, if we do happen to succeed in raiding the place down we can take literally anything they have here for ourselves, and the tribe will pay us over 2000 bucks

clear example of risk vs reward, if we try to raid we can try to escape and fall back on so were not stuck there, but it'll be a warzone :V people can very easily die

i wanna ask ya players what ya think here since it is your pawns, ya guys think its worth the risk or should we just tell the tribe we can't do ****? we got about 15 days for a final answer (or really 13 cause it will take 2 to get there and stuff)

It really isn't and I don't see how your own experience with an Ampharos(level and stats not mentioned) changes that. Lance has a team of strong overleveled Pokemon with coverage to deal with their own weaknesses and what I call "Dragonite Russian Roulette" where you just pray and hope the current Dragonite isn't the one with the SE against the Pokemon you just sent out.
Lance proves that type effectiveness isn't enough to win a fight.

And that isn't to say Clair isn't hard either, she's a full on ***** but she's basically Lance lite

turns out they can, as cori is actually trained with guns (and melee all rounder) and shishoe has increased accuracy and can quickly get trained in guns

in ranged combat, in melee you skewer people to death, basically if you can connect pointy bit to soft parts you win :V
you still have to run through gun fire and explosions though

I figured I'd list my biggest issues with each of the Pokémon generations in their debut region, while also saying what I like about each.

Kanto (R/B/Y and FR/LG)

+ The region that introduced me to Pokémon, so it gets points for that. It also the foundation upon which later generations were built.
+ Introduced certain staple characters to the series, namely Red, Blue, Professor Oak, Bill, and Giovanni, as well as Brock and Misty when factoring in the anime.
+ First generation to have some grander scale background lore, involving Mewtwo's creation.
+ Very few duds as far as introduced Pokémon are concerned.
+ Numerous extra areas to explore outside the main route, like the Seafoam Islands or the Power Plant.

- Buggy. Focus Energy lowered your critical hit ratio, Ghost was not very effective against Psychic when it was supposed to be super effective, etc.
- Psychic was horribly unbalanced.
- WHY THE **** WAS WRAP THE BEST MOVE IN THE GAME. SERIOUSLY IT WAS BROKEN AS HELL.
- No post game besides Mewtwo.

Fire Red and Leaf Green fixed basically all of these, even adding the Sevii Islands as a neat post game thing, but in their place added two issues:

- Not being able to evolve post-Kanto evolutions like Steelix or Crobat until the post game sucked.
- The Entei/Raikou issue. For those who don't know, one of the legendary beasts roams Kanto in the post game depending on your starter (you get the one that beats your starter). If you started with Bulbasaur/Squirtle, then Entei/Raikou would have Roar in their moveset. If they used Roar to end the battle, they'd leave the region forever. Ten year old me found that out the hard way.


Johto (G/S/C and HG/SS)

+ The whole region had a rustic Japanese charm to it.
+ Some great locations like the Olivine Lighthouse and Sprout Tower.
+ The Rocket takeover plot was neat.
+ Qwilfish, Ursaring, and Crobat.
+ FANTASTIC post game, with the inclusion of Kanto.
+ Pokéathlon was wonderful and Pokémon following you should've become a staple.

- Unnamed Rocket admins (fixed in HGSS)
- Worst rival in the series. Don't @ me.
- Tons of Johto Pokémon are either locked to late game or POST game, with most main game Pokémon being Kantonian.
- Has my personal least favorite starter trio, with Cyndaquil being the only one I'm fond of.
- lol Lance
- THE LEVEL CURVE. Or should I say, the level wall. Not only does the difficulty skyrocket around Clair, but there are no good grinding spots in a game that borderline necessitates it. I already think grinding can ruin a good game, so this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. The remakes did nothing to fix this either.


Hoenn (R/S/E and OR/AS)

+ Introduced abilities and made breeding better.
+ Improved a lot of Pokémon movepools.
+ With 135 new Pokémon, it was a much bigger jump than Johto.
+ One of the best regions when it comes to biome variety. You've got water routes, ice caves, deserts, a rain forest, woods, an abandoned ship, underwater areas...Hoenn has a lot of cool places.
+ Fantastic music
+ Omega Ruby!Maxie is one of my favorite evil team leaders.
+ Hoenn's contests were wonderful and the non-Hoenn equivalents can't hold a candle to them.
+ Steven Stone, man.
+ Battle Frontier! <3
+ The Delta Episode is one of my favorite post-game events ever. Zinnia is great. Multiverse stuff. Deoxys. (ORAS)
+ DexNav should have never been removed in Alola (ORAS)


• Fun fact: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire retconned Castform's origin. In RSE one Aqua/Magma grunt says the Weather Institute created Castform. Because of plot changes, Aqua/Magma's reason for being at the Institute changed, removing the only time Castform being artificial is ever brought up.

- OG Aqua and Magma sucked. ORAS fixed this.
- Water water everywhere.
- R/S/E infamously couldn't transfer over Pokémon from the second generation.
- Why the **** did they ruin Mauville in ORAS?
- WHERE IS THE BATTLE FRONTIER, ORAS?


Sinnoh (D/P/Pt)

+ Best region from a geographical standpoint. It reminds me a lot of where I live. Rustic, mountainous, and snowy. We even have a Route 209.
+ Introduced fantastic cross-generation evolutions like Roserade, Honchkrow, Tangrowth, Magnezone, Leafeon, Porygon-Z, Rhyperior, and Yanmega, and Munchlax and Bonsly are adorable pre-evolutions.
+ This was the generation where Gym Leaders really began to become their own characters on a large scale. Crasher Wake is still the best.
+ PHYSICAL. SPECIAL. SPLIT.
+ Canalave City is beautiful.
+ This was the region of L O R E and I appreciate the hell out of that.
+ Drifblim <3
+ Some of the best starters in the franchise with all three ranking highly for me.
+ Cynthia is the best Champion. Also Barry.
+ Looker, the best Pokémon character and I will fight you if you say otherwise, was introduced here.

- It. Was. So. Slow. Platinum fixed this, mostly, but my god the surfing speed in Diamond and Pearl...
- What's a Fire type? Platinum fixed this.
- Fun fact: You need six of the eight HMs to cross Mt. Coronet. Worst region for HMs.


Unova (B/W/B2/W2)

+ TONS of new Pokémon, with Black and White only containing new ones before the post game.
+ N is a wonderful character.
+ Juniper is second only to Oak on the Professor rankings for me.
+ Best story of all the games.
+ My favorite regional bird.
+ Anville Town is the best.
+ Castellia City is also the best.
+ Chandelure, Sawsbuck, Unfezant, Sigilyph, Samurott, Emboar, Crustle, Whimsicott, Beheeyem, Jellicent, Sawk, Amoongus...
+ Best Gym Leaders without a doubt.
+ Cheren and Bianca are the best.
+ THE MUSIC.
+ Cobalion is awesome.
+ The Battle Subway.
+ SPORTS CLASSES.
+ Based on New York and the general tristate area. I lived in New York and still live in the general tristate area. It feels like home.
+ The Royal Unova <3 So relaxing.
+ Ghetsis is a great villain. Alder is a nifty Champion.

- Black and White had a pretty bad level curve, but not as bad as Johto's.
- Musicals were wasted potential.
- We never saw completed Kyurem smh


Kalos (X/Y)

+ Greninja, Klefki, Trevenant, Gogoat, Talonflame, Florges, Diggersby, Heatmor. Heatmor is from Unova but he was still great here.
+ Tierno is an underrated gem of a character who I wrote an entire essay defending.
+ Lumiose City and Anistar City are memorable locations.
+ Sycamore is my fourth favorite Professor and he has a great theme song.
+ The Looker Bureau features Looker at his best and is a great post game reward.
+ Diantha gets a mention for being based on Audrey Hepburn.
+ Fairy types. Suck it, Dragon types.
+ MASSIVE regional Dex.
+ Introduced Mega Evolution.
+ Volcanion <3
+ Tons of QoL improvements to make getting into competitive easier.

- Xerneas and Yveltal have no lore. Why do they have no lore?
- Worst Gym Leaders by far.
- Least favorite music.
- Lysandre wasn't written very well. Team Flare kinda sucked.
- Shauna kinda sucked. Trevor too.
- The games are WAAAAAAAY too easy even with the EXP Share turned off.
- Sina and Dexio literally serve no purpose.


Alola (S/M/US/UM)

+ Very distinct region geographically. Hawaii was a good call.
+ Ultra Beasts!
+ All the starters are wonderful again.
+ Guzma is a national treasure.
+ Lillie is a fantastic character.
+ Midnight Lycanroc and Bruxish are the only real duds in the region.
+ Toucannon, Ribombee, Dhelmise, Mudsdale.
+ The Aether Foundation made for great villains, Lusamine especially.
+ USUM had Rainbow Rocket.
+ LookerxAnabel OTP don't @ me.

- Why is the entirety of Melemele a tutorial.
- Rotomdex was an obvious attempt to cash in on Yokai Watch's popularity in Japan, making it seem especially dated. Rotomdex was annoying.
- While I appreciate the story focus, having unskippable cutscenes is a pain in repeat playthroughs.
- Really, REALLY linear.
- USUM shouldn't have been a thing in this day and age, not being a complete package like Emerald or Platinum and not being a sequel like Black 2 and White 2. It literally took the worst of both.
- USUM ruined Lillie's arc and ruined Lusamine in general.
- Ultra Recon Squad was more like the Ultra Retcon Squad with how they made Looker and Anabel irrelevant.
- Z-Moves were nowhere near as cool as Mega Evolution. Z-Moves felt like a forced merchandising gimmick.
- Really hope they bring gyms back in Gen VIII.



So those are my thoughts. There are things I love about all of them, and also things I take issue with.
