This implies that the only people who would buy a kanto remake are fans of kanto.

Except if that were true games like ORAS or HG/SS would only sell to fans of hoenn/johto which obviously isnt true.

Pokemon fans will buy it for being pokemon, and there are a metric ****ton of kids out there who have never experienced kanto before so even then this would still be a new experience. The biggest worry I would have for sales is that Im pretty sure the install base is still significantly lower on switch than 3DS, assuming this comes to switch.

Well that is true. I still find that if it is true, a number of the older fans could skip it, since they've already experienced Kanto, and I still stand by the fact a good number of genwunners wouldn't comeback and buy the new games, cause they only like Gen 1 games.

I have a tendency to give what I get.

It's not the most moral, but I draw my line where anuses draw theirs.

Hell even Mania kinda puts a bad taste in my mouth due to the fandom and I know full well the makers of that only had good in their hearts. A corporation going full pander for the sake of a few people that either are just certified nostalgia blinded morons or have wild illusions about the endgame of a purge that inevitably won't come true is entirely worth my frustration.

Everyone has constant freakouts about every little singular thing Nintendo does and they're perfectly justified. I have one place where I draw a hard line and a particular subfandom type that ticks me off to no end pretty much for constantly telling everyone that everything they love sucks because it wasn't like how it was when they were a child and I'm an overzealous, toxic fan?

Then hell yeah, I'm a ******* overzealous toxic fan. **** planet earth and everyone on it, **** everyone who ever lived and ever will and **** me too.

And I was suggesting in my post that screwed up, we could call ourselves, Fiery Firing Force For Firing Uni, see its got nice alteration in it.

You don't have to turn this into a self-deprecation thing, I was just making a very obvious observation.

It's OK if you don't like Gen 1 and you don't want a game that goes back to the roots like that, but you're acting as if Gen 1 is a horrible stain on the Pokémon franchise and every one who likes Gen 1 or holds it as their favourite generation is rotten scum.

Pokémon literally wouldn't have happened without Gen 1 establishing what exactly Pokémon is. And most people who love Gen 1 do so for legitimate reasons (myself included - it's my second favourite Pokémon generation personally), there's way more to it than just "blind nostalgia".

Also saying they're doing this "for the sake of a few people" is just plain wrong. They aren't doing this to pander to "Genwunners". Pokémon GO also started off with just Gen 1 Pokémon and that was because Gen 1 has the broadest overall appeal, objectively. Older people have played Gen 1 as kids, and today's kids are aware of Gen 1 Pokémon due to their continued usage in the series (which isn't a pandering thing, that's just how Pokémon works - they keep as many of the old Pokémon as they can). Pokémon would always have been successful, but starting with Gen 1 REALLY helped push it because more people actually know and recognise these Pokémon. My parents still recognise Gen 1 Pokémon from me having played the games as a kid.

Im all for kids getting into pokemon, just dont limit it to one gen of pokemon, have the next game be gen 1-current gen that way eveyone is happy. Kids get to see the Pokes that started the games and vets get new pokemon

But they'll still buy the game too because "GOttA seeE hOW muCh gAMe frEAk M E S S E D UP".

And just the general fact that diehard Pokémon fans with actual disposable income eat up anything Pokémon more than the kids do anyway because, well, they've got disposable income whereas the kids don't.

And the fact that no matter how you slice it, this is still gonna be the first HD Pokémon game (unless you emulate the 3DS ones). People are gonna eat that up, especially on a system like the Switch.

Pokémon is a big enough franchise to where they will never please everyone. It's an inevitability, people value different things in the series. But they're probably gonna please the majority of Pokémon fans no matter what they do (at least enough for them to fork out the money for the game).

Half of the people saying they're gonna boycott are straight up lying to themselves, lol.
