I'm pleasantly surprised by this new Fire Emblem Heroes banner. I didn't think it'd feature more Genealogy characters. Seeing Ishtar in the game is pretty cool; she is quite popular among the Genealogy fans from what I've seen.

That aside, I still don't see myself pulling from this banner much. The only unit that really interests me is Lene for her sword and that dance-boosting skill. I think I'll just use my 40 orbs to try to get Ryoma and Dorcas now.

Especially as knowing Nintendo they're putting ****ty games like ****ing Ice Climbers on there just because we're supposed to think it's special

That alone will definitely make some online gamers happy, and I can see some taking the Switch version of online games due to this (and portability).

As for the NES games being provided and the mobile app still being relevant, they don't really apply to me since I'm not really a classic game player as is and I don't use the mobile app at all.

In all fairness, the app is used for literally just Splatoon 2 right now. And most of its features are unnecessary aside from SplatNet.

That's probably an answer to the competion.

Both Sony and Microsoft offer free monthly games, but Nintendo wanted their online services to be cheaper, so using retro games that are already ported to the death as a "reward", while ****ty for anyone who lacks nostalgia, can still be seen as a substantial bonus. Especially since they're free instead of having you spend another 5 freaking bucks for each like how the Wii U handled Virtual Console.
