Anyhoo, Conquest Update.
I've reached Sakura's stage.
All of the units I'm using are promoted and level 9 or greater. The paralogues are pretty good for grinding and raising supports.

About Conquest's story, it's messy and kinda incoherent.

Conquering Hoshido especially doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Like, why is conquering a neighbouring kingdom easier than dethroning Garon?

Its high point for me was the feast at Izana's. It reminds me of the Christmas truce of World War I in 1914.

On the other hand, it does portray the "War is hell" much, much better than Birthright, which plays out more like a fairy tale.

How about this: among the avatar characters, people seem to strongly favor male Robin and female Corrin. I actually don't have an answer to that one; I just think it's interesting.

What are character concepts that you'd love to see in a fighting game? You can use existing characters from other games as examples (like Kat's Gravity powers for example), or even concepts inspired by characters you'd like to see or are already in Smash.

I need help with n3DS data transfer. I've gotten to this screen about moving DSi Ware fro micro SD but the card is still in my old system. Do I turn off the new system to insert the card or will that just cause problems?

No, not because of writing or anything like that but because Forrest gets to inherit Nyx's Mag growth and +6 cap
Use him, even if a backup healer or support(Strategist is probably the best non-DLC support class).
And I never used Mozu!Velouria but I'm assuming she has a ****ton of Str so that's good

There's an alternate version of the Primrose theme in Mega Man X8 that I'm pretty sure was un-used/demo only or something.

Seeing as it's not the final version, it's a bit rough, but still sounds pretty cool. Kind of fits with the rest of X8's music style. The final one felt more like an X4 theme, still cool though.

I feel like people are only saying this because they don't like the NLA themes and the Skell theme you are forced to listen to everytime you ride one...or they don't like rap in the Black tar track...

I actually don't mind the NLA themes myself, the Skell theme does get annoying after a while though...

The overworld themes are amoung the best tracks in the game though, especially Primordia and Cauldros...
I think Sawano did a great job overall with this game's soundtrack...

Because that was only added because Araki was bitter at how he couldn't make Part 3 a retelling of Bram Stoker's Dracula as Japan doesn't know that kind of stuff

Araki actually speaks fluent English I hear. Hell, he doesn't even listen to Japanese music according to an interview, and Pucci's character fits pretty well with the Lyrics to, you guessed it, Made in Heaven

What about fusing the cat character with this, as in a cat of nine tails? My cat bias aside, while "foxy" waifus can be a huge hit, it's also very basic. I'd mix something else popular with it to make it stand out but still remain kitsune-like.

Well, wasn't the lore "two-tailed cat"? There might be something there. Not sure what to do with the Kitsune tbh. I'm just thinking of things that could blend. I do know that with a Wolf, a Fox is a good choice as well, due to the legend of the Teumessian Fox.

Could do both... maybe the Cheetah girl could have two tails? idk. Cheetah catgirl was gonna be kinda like the one from the Thundercats, but also with a strong Amazoness look to her.

Perhaps I could make another mage that was a two tailed cat? Or just straight up draw an Espeon-like two tailed cat as a mascot character... We'll see.

If I were to throw in random concepts:

Ylem - "primordial substance from which all matter is formed", the original condensation prior to the big bang. It'd be like a character that is a swarm of nanabots, but it'd be more natural, perhaps technological in the sense of the Aurum from Kid Icarus Uprising, like divine mechanics. It'd move, attack, and defend by transforming itself in various elements and constructs all around perhaps a main core and design motif to give it distinctive features to grant it identity.

Another idea is having two separate characters that are connected via story--a demon and human swap bodies (probably initiated by the demon against the human's will as a form of escape?), as in one is a human with a demon's heart, and a demon with a human's heart. Perhaps done many times before, but that could be interesting.

Which reminds me of the concept of nephilim--how the child of an angel and human makes, oddly, a giant human who behaves like a demon. Much different than a lot of conceptions in modern stories about nephilim, but very fascinating from a thematic standpoint I think, and could perhaps translate into a unique fighter.

A fighter based off of King Midas could be quite distinctive as well, where much of his body is made of gold, jewels, coins, etc. and uses his wealth generating power and body to attack in all sorts of ways, all the while looking pretty different visually.

Or maybe an old man/woman character that can transform into their much stronger youthful self via some sort of immortality temporarily. I've no clue how to make sense of it, but someone whose story and fighting revolves around acquiring and prolonging youth would be pretty cool.

Which then makes me think about astral projection for some reason--having a character who can disembody their spirit from their body to perhaps fight or travel. I like that idea too.

In terms of greek mythology, Epimetheus is a character not often remembered--the Luigi to Prometheus haha. But he's the source of all of animal's skills, senses, claws/fangs. He's like their father/mother, a druid almost, the hero to animals whereas his brother was to humans. He also was the one who accepted pandora's box lol, which is another character that could be interesting--a woman with a jar or some sort of container that she unleashes rather unpleasant things from to fight with.

Alright, I'm tapped out at the moment. Hopefully something inspiring occured haha.

Hmm... I wanna see if there's anything in Mesoamerican culture that could be interesting. I think both Aztec and Native American could have some unique stuff. Something like a Shaman could be really good.

Germanic and Scandinavian also have a lot. Odin for example became Gandalf. Celtic has some cool stuff. One thing I do wanna avoid is having direct gods, Smite for example already exists. And for that reason Son Wukong will likely be kept out, since that's become a bit of a cliche at this point.

You second idea btw could work of the titular character. As he's a sort of half-demon. I'd just need to draw the beastly demon counterpart. Which could be that quadrupedal one at the bottom.

The Astral Projection kinda works with the Elf chick who has the stand thing.

And I've heard of the Nephilim btw, they're pretty cool. Works with the general theme too. I would like a very draconic looking demon thing to contrast the angel, so there might be something there. A lot of what I've got is tossing ideas about and seeing what sticks, and then blending stuff with other stuff to come up with something unique. Also, popular culture works just as well as folklore, stuff like Frankenstein and Dracula, etc... I mean Kamen Rider is getting a homage, since there's no way I can pass on that. The general binding concept though is Demons and Demon Hunters, since both of those definitions can be extended considerably. A demon could be draconic like the Christian ones, it can be Eldricht, it can be oriential, like the Yokai and Oni in Japanese myth, and it could even be beastly and stuff. So there's plenty to work with there. The general look is for it to be more gnarly, a la Warhammer and Guilty Gear, while still having that anime vibe. Though some things are in there that kinda throw the style for a curve a bit, like mechanical stuff and futuretech like the angel for example. Visual design is more important than story here, as though there will be a story within the story, the actual story is about competitive gaming. I'll just be coming up with the roster concepts, and then letting Che go wild with the story. The story within the game isn't too important, visual aesthetic trumps it. The story there really serves to kinda give more depth to the story of the manga, by adding an extra layer of, hey, that's cool, and making the videogame within the manga feel very real.


And Pandora is a boss idea. Especially since I was thinking of wanting a "mimic" character who could copy abilities used by others but more a la Sharingan, and was more of a wild-card character who relied a lot on luck and RNG. Combining that with the idea of a girl carrying a jar/box with like Eldritch beings inside it could work. If I make it a Loli, might work very very well.
