Question for Fire Emblem fans.
Awakening is what's considered the best entry point right?
Yep, that, FE7, and FE8 are pretty good starting points.
FE7 has a tutorial that guides you through the mechanics of the series, so by the time you're done with it you'll have a good understanding of what the game expects of you as a player. It's also in that perfect spot where it's not too hard or easy in its Normal Mode, so you can jump right in afterwards and still get a challenge without feeling bombarded. With FE8 I started with that game myself and I feel it was a pretty good place for me to start. It's easy enough that while it doesn't have a tutorial or casual mode, you can play it and get an understanding of the mechanics and gameplay without being overwhelmed (for the most part, Ephraim's ship map can be pretty tough for newcomers). It also shares some of its features with Awakening and Fates, so you can jump from one to the other and have a closer experience between games then with some of the other options.
Of them, my personal vote goes to FE7 as while the tutorial is really nice for newcomers, it can be intrusive for veterans used to the series already. So if you want to play FE7, I feel it's better to do it early on in your series' exposure so you can reap the benefits of the tutorial mode without feeling like the game's holding your hand too much.
