Let's do this.

First of all, Gaston is a misogynistic man child with a cult of personality that was willing to send a helpless old man to an insane asylum (which in the days of 1700s France, was essentially sending him to his death) and murder a clearly sapient creature in an attempt to have Belle for himself. Dangerously entitled and holds a lot of sway. Yeah, he's funny, but anyone who seriously considers him misunderstood needs some serious help.

While funny, I would move Cruella and Hook upward a smidge. Keep in mind Hook casually murdered one of his crew members and Cruella literally wanted to perform mass puppy genocide.

I'd put Kaa midway up the middle line. He's scary by virtue of acting on animal instinct and having hypnotism/a detachable jaw, but morally he's just a wild animal looking for food. Protagonist just isn't on the menu.

Keep in mind Clayton wanted to exploit (and ended up murdering) an endangered species. "Misunderstood" my ***. Glad he hanged himself. That ****.

I actually understand Maleficent being where she is, but it's a matter of interpretation. Back in those days, being excluded from the royal christening was a BIG deal. As an audience we don't know what previous interactions the royals had with Maleficent, so we don't know if it's justified. But at the same time, proclaiming yourself the Mistress of All Evil doesn't help one's case.

Gothel should be much higher up. She kidnapped the then-infant princess and psychologically abused her for eighteen years and attempted to murder the only outside connection she had.

Jafar isn't misunderstood. Yeah, he sees being the Royal Vizier as beneath him, but that's just as much his arrogance as the Sultan's ineptitude.

Reminder that Hans attempted double regicide on a trade partner nation in an attempt to usurp its throne. Reminder that executing him would have been more than justified.

Ursula being seen as misunderstood is a growing belief, but I...can't see it. The main argument is that she never dupes Ariel and it was the latter's fault for signing her contract...forgetting, of course, that Ariel is a minor so the contract likely isn't legally binding anyway (unless Triton just really needs to get his **** together and fix that policy). And the fact that she tried to usurp Triton's throne and lay waste to the entire ocean, killing all but the most landlocked of nations.

tl;dr: No, you can't attempt regicide and then say you were just misunderstood.
I enjoyed that...

I'm curious where you'd put some other Disney villains.

Where do you think these villains would lie?

  • Queen of Hearts
  • Madame Medusa
  • The Coachman
  • Shere Khan
  • Pete
  • King Candy
  • Dawn Bellwhether
  • Horned King
  • Ratigan
  • Prince John
  • Gantu
  • Madam Mim
I'm just really curious where you'd put them.

There's a bit of a Sonic Forces rumour going around.

Should be taken with a grain of salt, since there's no concrete source, other than a person was told by a Gamescom rep, who then told someone else.

Using a spoiler tag in case this stuff is true.

-Silver will be playable via the Tag Team Mode.

-Sonic will have some "emotional scenes" with his friends.

-Someone is going to die in the game.

I'm not sure about the Silver being playable part, though I certainly wouldn't be against having him and the other characters team up with the Avatar.

The latter two I think are kind of a given though. I think either the Avatar or Infinite is going to die (the former so they have an excuse not to include an Avatar creator in future games, the latter as part of a potential "tragic villain" angle). And Sonic maybe having a few more emotional moments with his friends seems a given with the whole "Eggman took over and Sonic started a resistance group" plot. It also works with how this was billed as being an 25th anniversary game initially, sort of like how Breath of the Wild was billed as an anniversary game and...tried to make you feel emotional about Link and Zelda drama, and seeing old places in ruin. Sonic Mania took a more blatant "celebration of Sonic" route like Generations, while Forces might be trying to play with the heartstrings of people attached to certain characters.

I don't know why a convention rep would even be in the know about more than they were given to set up, but. . .

I feel like killing off the avatar or any of the old characters there for fanservice would be a larger gut punch than anything the games have attempted, at least unless it was reversed quickly. Shadow was new and a villain and it still got taken back, Shadow's game flirted with it but never canonically committed, 06 took it back, Chip never even died. . . Since the avatar is a random individual it wouldn't stop another game from using the feature, so there's no point to it from a utility angle. Especially as Sonic has softened up a bit and the pitch for the game is already kind of dark offing a hero is going to shoot a bit past what they were aiming for with the tone since even the darkest games in the series didn't have the guts. I say if anyone goes it's Infinite. Either that or an anonymous bystander is croaking.

The Silver being playable part sounds like the comparisons with Sonic Heroes that have started popping up and people saying it's like "Sonic Heroes with two characters" and "they might make the other Sonic characters able to be the third." Might just be a guy reading forums and seeing what would feed into what people expect.

Uhhhh
I can't be the only one thinking it's stupid to have 4 of the same kind of games on the Switch, right? It'll saturate it. Unless I'm a scrub who's looking solely at the titles, but 4 Warriors games. I think the average joe will settle for 2 at most
You're not wrong about that; Warriors Orochi 3 in general is milked the most out of the three. Game first appeared on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and then the Special on PSP. And THEN Hyper on the Nintendo Wii U, and now Ultimate's pretty much everywhere on PS3, Vita, PS4, PC and Switch.

That's just ridiculous. But it wouldn't surprise me, since it's easily Koei's biggest and most hardcore Warriors product.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is well yeah. Game is on PS3, PC and PS4. Though Spirit of Sanada was only an PS4 exclusive up until now, so I think it's fine for that game.

  • Prince John
  • Gantu
  • Madam Mim
I'm just really curious where you'd put them.
The Queen of Hearts is in a strange place, literally and figuratively. Going by strictly the film, we don't see her do anything really, well, evil. Yeah, there's the whole "Off with her head!" thing. By virtue of being from Wonderland I'd place her as funny/misunderstood, but hesitantly.

Madame Medusa is irredeemably bad. Easy scary/evil.

Same deal with the Coachman, but a special level of hell is reserved for him since he's the only Disney villain besides the Headless Horseman to never receive any comeuppance.

Shere Khan I'd put on scary, definitely, but for alignment I'd place him past the midpoint toward evil, but not all the way. Parts of his backstory are sympathetic, and his vendetta against humanity is at least somewhat understandable, but he's still too extreme in his views.

Pete is way down in the funny section, and right on the line between evil and misunderstood. Canonically, he's just a jerk. Goofy's brutish neighbor/Mickey's mean former employer. "Evil" doesn't suit him though.

King Candy perfectly illustrates what Coricus said about scary/funny not being a spectrum like the chart implies. Like Shere Khan, his plight is sympathetic, but the methods he takes are too extreme to not be evil. He's hilarious but also not above literally destroying worlds to get what he wants.

I guess enough time has passed that Bellwether isn't a spoiler, eh? Same boat as Shere Khan and King Candy. Her plight didn't warrant her trying to murder law enforcement, start a race war, and see through a massive criminal conspiracy for her own political gain. Funny/evil.

Horned King is firmly in the scary/evil camp.

Ratigan is definitely evil, but like King Candy, he's both scary and funny. His hamminess leads to his villainy being played for laughs ("Even meaner, you mean it? Worse than the widows and orphans you drowned?"). At the same time, the Big Ben chase scene showed he wasn't all talk.

Prince John is funny on one spectrum, in the middle of evil and misunderstood on the other. He's a terrible King quick to execute terrible laws and good people. But he also isn't as effectual as a villain to be called evil. He's a whiny brat. Funny, but whiny.

Gantu is in a weird spot. The guy was doing his job. And then if you take the extended canon like Lilo and Stitch: The Series into consideration, he went through a ton of villain decay until the finale where he fully reforms. He's someone I'd actually consider putting in misunderstood, with Scary or Funny being determined by what part of the canon you look at.

Madam Mim is dangerously unhinged. She tried to kill Wart and was definitely not holding back in the Wizard Duel against Merlin. At the same time, she's a hermit, so she's not evil enough to, like, curse all of London or something. Funny/light evil.

Oh my goodness really. I've been deceived it seems. If that really is the case, then I must apologize for showcasing that. I feel so awkward now... :ohwell:

Edit: Well at least everyone will have an accurate idea of how the three will play. The Siliconera article I showed the other day is definitely no lie though.

The Air Boost in Sonic Forces is ****ing nuts.

From the video description.

For those who are confused about the air boost: Usually it's not that powerful, but if you jump before the first boost pad it seems that you skip a trigger that changes gravity and the game gets really confused, which is why the air boost is this powerful.
Still, Aaron Webber demonstrated it before and it looked pretty powerful even then.

The big change is that Air Boost can now be held, rather than being a small burst like before, which creates that "diving" effect. Sonic Colours' Air Boost was actually kind of like this too, though a little less extreme.

So I have reason to believe my PS3 is on it's death bed.... Which means it's time I invest on my own personal PS4.

Probably the Slim since it's the cheapest one. The other option would be to convince Dad to buy the Pro for the living room TV while I keep the regular PS4.

So I'm watching the Death Note anime now it's pretty good.

I think the movie would have been much better if the main guy wasn't named Light and the movie took place after the events of the anime.

Apparently the next big Bethesda title might be... a Game of Thrones game.

Just a rumor right now though.

Even though there are some games I want to play on PS4, with most of them I can play it on PC though, I don't think I will ever be buying a home console besides Switch for now... due to the fact that I don't enjoy back in the days where I keep plugging consoles to TV and I have to take it down after playing because it will be a hassle if I kept it there. So right now handheld (Switch) and my laptop (PC games I guess) are my go at this point.

Egh... I'd rather CDPR tackle a GoT game seeing as they've done well with the Witcher games.
A good GoT game has a lot of potential though.

Since this hasn't been done here, trailers for the three Koei games are up for Switch. Time to squad up Warriors.

Edit: Oh and Happy 20th Birthday @Strider_Bond00J
Since the Fire Emblem Warriors dream has died for me, which one of these should I pick up as a series newscomer? The only musou game I've ever played is Hyrule Warriors (both on Wii U and 3DS)

Maybe I should use Video Blocker just in case.

Remember the little animation Sonic had in Lost World if you left him idle while skydiving?

It's back in Forces and the Avatar joins in too.

If you've enjoyed Hyrule Warriors from a gameplay perspective, then I think at least one of these is worth a try once they do go on Switch eventually.
  • Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires - purely just a sandbox game about conquering China. You get to create your characters, customizing your army banner, horse and troops. It's Empires Mode is basically where you either participate in historically based events, or one that is entirely random in a quest to unify China. You get to build relationships as a king, or start as a nomad traveling around until you find a kingdom you like enough to serve. So pretty much find a spouse (though the child the game customizes for you can be messed up), make sworn siblings, enemies or take on quests. It's separate from the actual Dynasty Warriors 8 but I found it to be a fun and enjoyable experience for a spinoff. I've always been a Empires fan since DW5E.
  • Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate - basically a crossover of the Dynasty and Samurai games, while also including guest characters from Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Soul Calibur and some more franchises. So yeah, another spin-off made for fun, but has alot of characters, stages and DLC to keep you going and is the overall best Koei game in my opinion. But that's just because it's the most hardcore Musou game Koei has ever made. This game was updated before DW8 and SW4 so that's why you won't see more new characters past DW7 (and also why some of the DW characters can appear as clones) and SW3.
  • Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada - haven't played, but out of the three is the main Warriors game with a mainstream storyline. From what I've heard from reviews, this game is regarded very highly for having a excellent storyline. And this is a surprise for me since Koei's story telling (with the exceptions of DW7, SW2 and apparently this) has always been below mediocre level at best. That's all I can say about it. Though from what I've heard, many Koei fans agree that the game-play in Samurai Warriors is superior to Dynasty Warriors.
It depends on what exactly you want, since each of these three are different not only by separate series, but also by overall context. But all three of those are as good in my experience.

Also someone thought I was a racist asshole for kinda enjoying the movie despite how bad it is and all that.

Dissidia matchmaking just put me against all CPUs for some reason. CPU allies too.

And it still gave me matchmaking EXP for winning.
