The way things are going 9s will be bad scores in the near future.

Which is people should scrap the scoring system altogether or use a better one like a 5-star scale or one similar to Gamexplain's.

That's cause people are ridiculous. 7 is like only bad when it comes to a test score. 7 is pretty nice of a score for a video game/movie/etc. That's above average.

That was the most BS end to the fight I could have ever seen. After all that, Charziard should not have lived a ******* giant flaming shuriken like it was nothing. That's stupid levels of strong and almost as bad as Tobias imo.

That said the match wasn't that bad and the Flare Arc looks good. Also I'm betting after the events of Flare, Alain loses the title and it goes to Ash.

It was underwhelming for sure, enjoyed the first half of the fight a lot more.

That being said... Ash losing decisively at least isn't a cop out as huge as having Team Flare intervene,

You know what I've grown to hate most out of the reoccurance of Ash losing leagues?
Him losing at the Indigo Plateau had meaning.
It was to prove that even when you train and do everything right; sometimes there will be someone greater or you'll make a mistake.
But it's fine because these things happen.
And that loss only made Ash winning the Orange Island championship all the more impactful.
The hype going for Kalos as it approached its end was little more than vindication and hope that after... about 18 years now? That they could do away with the damn thing of Ash losing "real" championships done, not once, twice, thrice, quice, but five times over now and let that feeling of.... vindication for fans old and new to rush in.

IMO, I would not bother watching with the Pokemon anime.

I have waited years for the anime to become better, and it just hasn't improved dramatically.

I'd watch other anime over Pokemon.

my involvement in it died after I couldn't get into season 4 because of various reasons, one being the fact I switched from Dish to DirecTV after they temporarily revoked Cartoon Network and Boomerang from the channel lineup

It's better writing and story, but not by much IMO.

I think you're talking about the Johto League, not that the Orange League didn't have any impact.

With the Indigo League Ash did little to no training (was even a running joke), had an incomplete team of Pokemon, fought the least built up rival in the show's history (WTF NO GARY?), and TR shenanigans prevented him from using what team he did have. The entire fight took about 5 minutes and was mostly cop outs. Ash also acted like a sore loser after the match.


At least we still have the Team Flare arc and the XY/ORAS manga climaxes to look forward to.

I'm honestly not even surprised anymore.

I think what irritated me the most was how much damage Charizard took and yet was still allowed to keep standing while Greninja fainted after two resisted hits. As Zoroark said, that's Darkrai levels of glorification and there was no good reason for that since it's not a legendary though the writers love X about as much as one apparently. They could've at least made the match more on equal footing so the loss was more believable.

Also, fun fact: The writer of the league episode was apparently also the one that wrote Ash vs. Cameron.

As if Goodra is garbage. Ditch Noivern, Talonflame and Hawlucha for three of the above before Goodra.

I have to disagree, Goodra flopped just as badly as Noivern at the League as it only got a tie and a loss, with said ties of both being against Sawyer's weakest members (as from what I understand, both had losing records going into the match). In fact, I'd say Noivern was a bit more impressive at the league since tying with a Salamence would give you more clout then tying with a Slurpuff. At least Hawlucha took out a Weavile and Mega Absol and Talonflame a Slaking, so they definitely contributed more to Ash's team then either of his Kalos dragons.

Honestly, how did they manage to make a Noivern and Goodra look worse then Ash's Gible at the league?
