Thinking about FE6 makes me really want to make a mod for the game.

Of course that requires artistic talent to make OCs, some way to actually make maps, and knowledge of game design.

The last two could be learned, but the first is not something I can overcome. I. guess I could just live on FE 6 (and maybe 7 and 8) characters but that would be boring.

And even then I probably dont have time becauss of my new job

Oh wow you got obliterated in that thread lol.

I can't really blame them though lol
Creating FE maps is quite simple actually as there's a program for that, just google "fe map creator" and you should find a Serenes Forest thread
Nightmare modules allow you to edit simple things like growths, bases, item properties, class promotions, etc.
The actually hard part is all the text, changing events and inserting your own maps, portraits and sprites into the game(as that requires some more actual hacking knowledge)

If you are ever truly interested in hacking a FE game, I really recommend downloading Nightmare and looking up for Blazer's tutorial
And even then, starting by changing characters, enemies and item stats could be a good start
Like my 18 Def and 15 Res Wolt with a 80 hit 90 crit indestructable 3-15 range Longbow

Well, I'm gonna try to get started on a voice mod tomorrow.

Once I figure out how.
I made an Evil Ryu for a guy on Game Banana, and trust me its a pain... mostly time consuming x_x
It's really not bad at all. Sound effects/voice modding is the easiest part of Smash Wii U modding.

Getting all of the right programs and plug-ins is a bit of a nuisance and takes some time, but that's something you only have to do the first time.

After that it's just a matter of exporting a character's voice clip .nus3bank in Smash Explorer (or getting someone to do it for you and getting them to send you the file), and getting the voice clips you want to put into the game in .wav/.mp3 format. Then you either put it back into Smash Explorer and pack it, or you can just upload the unpacked voice clip and people can set their SD card folders up so it can run correctly.

Honestly I have more trouble deciding exactly which voice clips I want to use in my mod. Like for the Rosalina and Marth voice mods I made, deciding which voice clips I wanted to use was the hardest part of the process.

Like you said, it was my first time, and I had no idea wtf I was doing so it took me a day or two to actually get the voice working at a satisfactory level :p

It especially didn't help that the first time some of the voice were really quiet and I get annoyed easily by small things like that, so I decided to start again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As a bit of an aside, I'm quite a fan of the choice of quotes for the Marth mod in-match (can't quite remember the victory quotes other than that they were from STEAM)

Has anyone figured out how to modify the facial expression loading during spoken taunts, by the way?

Totally custom models/model importing should be a thing pretty soon in Smash Wii U.

If you're talking about my Marth mod, I didn't use any Codename STEAM voice clips. Only ones from Fire Emblem: Fates.

There are other Marth voice mods that have the Codename STEAM voice clips, though, some using them entirely.

Also as far as I'm aware the facial expression "bug" is a matter of changing the character's animation file in some way. I don't actually know how you're supposed to change it yet though.

I might have to finish up fixing the Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash Rosalina model in-time for it.

Too bad I hit a brick wall and haven't been able to progress with it at the moment.

For the longest time I've been trying to figure out how to get a specific voice on one costume, and make the defalut one still work on every other costume.

Example: I add an Evil Ryu voice to Ryu's 5th costume, but when I pick every other colour, he never speaks.

You wouldn't happen to know a solution to this ChikoLad ChikoLad ?

Welp looks like I wasn't aware Marth spoke more orz

Side note for anyone awake who has Smash RPG and is high enough level (30-something?). Bowser comes to attack in just over 25min and the last two times we haven't been able to kill him >.> Great time to farm exp mushrooms and coins tho

Spoiler'd because images and it's a bit longer to explain this:

You need to get the program "Parameters.exe" to do this. If you don't already have it, I can provide you with a download for it pretty soon.

Once you have that program, you need to go to Smash Explorer, and go to data(your region)>param>ui, and extract "ui_character_db.bin".

You then open that in Parameters (just go to File>Open), and then you will see this:

Then you collapse that, and it looks like this:

This is pretty daunting at first, but basically, each entry represents a character (including non-playable ones like Master Hand).

In order to find a character's entry, you need to know what their hexidecimal ID is, and convert it to a decimal. There is a list for this I can also send you (I can also convert every character entry to decimal too for you, it's actually something I've been meaning to do myself).

Since you're looking for Ryu though, I can just give you it up front - his hexidecimal value is 0x34, and converted to decimal, that's 52.

You'd think that means he is Entry 52, but that's actually not the case, but he is in around that area. So go to entry 52 by double clicking it, and you'll see:

To find which character this is, you look at "Name 6". Name 6's Value is 51 in this case, which is where Mewtwo is. So just go one down to Entry 53, and that's where Ryu is.

Now to actually make it so that Ryu's 5th costume uses your Evil Ryu voice mod and only that costume, go down to view Name 21 through 36.

21 through 36 essentially dictate what voice file the character uses. Since Ryu only has 8 costumes by default, 29 through 36 are empty with a "0". 21 through 28 are "1". Name 25 is Ryu's 5th costume, so change it's value to "2".

Now save that file, and drag it back into Smash Explorer, in both data(your region)>param>ui, and data>param>ui.

As one final step, go to your nus3bank file for your voice mod. You likely have it named "snd_vc_Ryu". Change it's name to "snd_vc_Ryu_c01". And add that to Ryu's sound folder within the data section and the data(your region) section.

Now just build the mod and it should work, only Ryu's fifth costume should have your voice mod.

As a bonus tip, Parameters is also where you can add additional costume slots. To do that, when your are viewing a character's entry, look for Name 7. Every playable character except Little Mac has this value set to "8" by default. You simply change it to the desired amount, up to 16 (it's possible to go above 16 but this requires extra steps). So in this case, you likely have an Evil Ryu skin to go along with your Evil Ryu voice mod. So change Ryu's Name 7 Value to 9.

Then go to the folder for the costume mod you downloaded. If it's for the 5th costume slot, it will be named "c04". Change that to "c08", and drag it into the folder where Ryu's costumes are in Smash Explorer. And you can build the mod and it will take effect.

Also, when you make changes to a parameter file in Parameters, remember to hit File>Save and overwrite the one you extracted. The program does not autosave upon exiting it.

Daaaaamn thanks so much :awesome:

Just one question, I have Evil Ryu's voice file set to 'snd_vc_Ryu_c05', so does that mean for this part:

"Name 25 is Ryu's 5th costume, so change it's value to "2"."

Do I still need to keep it at 2? Or do I change it to 5 since seeing as the voice file is already set to 'c05' already?

In this case, you change Name 25's Value to 6.

Costume slots/voice file slots start at c00 as the default, and then end at c07 (or c15 for Little Mac), in the vanilla game. However, in most other things, like for CSS portraits, or the slots in the param folder, the default starts at 1 or 01, depending on what you're dealing with.

You can theoretically name the file c07, for example, and then in Parameters, go to the Name for Costume #2, and change it's value to 8.

If you only plan to add one voice mod, especially one you might want to put over multiple slots, I recommend the voice file have "c01" at the end, and just change that slot's voice file value to 2 in Parameters. It's less confusing that way, means you can easily put the same voice file over even more slots in the future (if you ever to decide to do so) by simply changing the values for those slots to 2.

Alright I got another one...
Is Cloud's entry 56 or 55? I think it (56) may be Corrin since Name 21 is set to 1, Name 22 is set to 2, name 23 set to 1, etc.

In case it is Name 55, for Cloud, I have a voice file that is set to 'snd_vc_Cloud_c01'. In parameters, what do I set the value to? I think its 2 but I want to make sure...

Thanks for the condolences guys.

I feel psychologically wounded from my NeoGaf thread closure. I could not sleep last night to be honest, the amount of negative responses I got in that thread were overwhelming.

Knowing that NeoGaf is a huge place that discusses so many gaming topics, I can't expect much substantial responses.

Here, though I'm glad this place exists, where it's much nicer and more open with discussion.

I'm scared to post a new thread.

Cloud is Entry 56 (Name 6's value is 55 within Entry 56, 55 is Cloud's decimal ID). His alts are set up like the characters with alternate sex options.

And yes, set the voice file value to 2 for the slots you want the voice to be in.

Ok, last question I promise :p

So I've gotten Evil Ryu to work on c01 and c05. Is there a way to get default Ryu's voice to work on every other costume? Because as far as I can tell I can't :ohwell:

Did you leave the other costumes at "1" in Parameters?

If you did then they should still have the default voice for Ryu, assuming you also left the default voice for Ryu unchanged in Smash Explorer.

Solution: don't go to NeoGAF. One of the most toxic communities I've seen.

Their reputation isn't exactly positive. I mean, they banned a translator from Xseed Games for not agreeing with the opinion of a staff member. If that isn't tyrannical behavior, I don't know what it is.

Ok, so the separate voices work, but when I try to load Evil Ryu AND vanilla Ryu, the game freezes on me, so I dunno whats up with that :/

You know I see you guys mentioned a Ryan Drummond Sonic mod for Smash 4, and after seeing AceStarThe3rd mod Sonic in his undebatable series which gave him back his wonderful Brawl Voice :) I have pretty much come to the conclusion that thier portrayals of Sonic are the one's I prefer.
With that said if we ever got a Sonic Generations 2 (Maybe something along this lines for the 25th Game)
It would be great to see the 4 main sonic actors come back to voice all the different Sonic's.
Classic- Jaleel
Dreamcast-Ryan (The fact this could happened in Generations would have been amazing)
Modern-Jason
Boom-Roger
Mind you I like all the voice actors for Sonic but I think it would be cool to see all 4 of them in a game together.
But hey that's just my opinion,

That's really strange. Normally, when you try to load two alts into a match with one of them having a custom voice, Player 2's voice simply gets muted (which there isn't a fix for yet as far as I'm aware).

I'll look into this more later, as I've never experienced this kind of freezing myself.

That's probably a sign that you should take a break from the internet. I feel the same way whenever I look at the comments section of a political article.

I will say that the retro game community there is pretty welcoming, but most everything else is pretty toxic. It's ridiculous they allow comments like that and yet feel the need to require private emails and a long wait period to join for the sake of keeping discussion troll/spam free.

I won't say that it doesn't help keep out advertising bots and the like, but they should allow some basic leniency in regards to rule breakers/make rules more transparent and have whatever standard of discussion they're striving for be reflected through their modding team.

As for Xseed Games, the controversy of censorship/sexism in games certainly is a fickle topic.

So Pokémon GO is out in some places, eh? When I do get it, I'll delete Miimoto (since that game is rather boring and my tablet can't run apps off my SD card for stupid reasons).

But the moment Pokémon GO's fun is ruined by pay walls, I'm deleting it.

Oh look, another garbage Nintendo patent tha....

Okay, holy ****, that actually looks great. I would buy this day one of it was legit
Oh, I'm on the NeoGaf thread for this as we speak. Found it on Twitter.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1243287

Some people there are saying the image isn't representative of the patent, merely used to demonstrate it's features. The actual patent seems to be for. . .I'm guessing a smartphone casing that can trigger a dual speaker sound response and rumble at the same time?

*EDIT* Also for further interest, @PushDustIn is one of the people that says the images aren't representative of what was actually patented.
