Surprised that it managed to do much better than Mario & Sonic at Rio (which came out on the same day). Plenty of people must have been disappointed to hear about the character exclusivity they've pulled for the game.

This is pretty cool.

I don't know how but apparently the full 2016 Style Guide for Sonic Boom products got leaked online.

A lot of the text is not readable because the images are too small but one interesting thing is that it confirms that Eggman in Sonic Boom doesn't actually want to destroy Sonic, but merely wants attention. It says that "if Eggman received a legit invite to Sonic's next sleepover party, he'd consider that a real victory".

Essentially, Boom!Eggman isn't actually evil (that much was clear), he's just tsundere.

Yes, I already know that the better selling 3DS version exists, but this speaks a lot of volumes. Though the bigger question is whether or not future sales would be consistent due to the limited copies in stores (I saw up to 6 Tokyo Mirage Sessions cases in the GameStop I worked at and got my preorder from behind the desk).

Looking back at it now, Nintendo's spot in most GameStops was always dwarfed compared to Sony and Microsoft's spots. It sure is a small world for the Wii U.

I think this speaks less volumes for #FE's "wide appeal", and more volumes for how utterly disappointing and soulless of a product the Rio 2016 game was.

Also they postponed Bayonetta (character X on thier website) but that's understandable. They revealed her butt in like October after many demands from my Bayo followers and myself.

Unless Mario & Sonic better itself as a franchise, I've never buying another game again. I was so looking forward to play Rio because of how good the gameplay looked at first and those HD visuals.

But no, Sega went lazy and restricted most new characters to certain events. And no Dream Events either? Those blokes are not having my money again for the next Olympic Games title.

So much postponing and delays, it drains the hype, especially if it ends up to be some nobody like Lilac.
These types of characters can work, but not when the series is bi-monthly at best.

The hints where good at the beginning because a new Smashified was actually hyping but now they seem like a bad attempt to create hype in their understandably messy schedule

Well first you have to SHRTDL (Short Hop Right To Dream Land) to get the power-up and with that power up you can summon a bratwürst that jumps on the boss and eventually the game crashes so you just have to press xyabbayx to win.

I find it rather hilarious myself and I used to be one of those people until I realized that complaining is pointless. Shame the other people won't get it and continue "speaking with their wallet".

Hell, just go to the Metacritic user reviews for the negative censorship posts for a good laugh. It's just as funny as Fire Emblem Fates when it first came out.

Lilac was literally one of the most hype ones they did. Also Lilac is far from a nobody. Freedom Planet did really well, is already getting a self funded sequel, and may even be getting two spin-off games. The game is very popular and I'd easily say Lilac is more recognisable than characters like K. Rool or whoever else people want because she's showing up in a lot of things and because she's still relevant, not like a lot of characters people core Smash fans ask for. While those other characters are former C-listers fading further into obscurity, characters like Shovel Knight and Lilac are rising stars - the next generation's Mario or Sonic, if you will.

They need to do more characters like that, and put the kind of effort and creativity they put into Lilac's one into the others more often. It's also just really cool to see them get commissioned by the creator of the game the character is from, official model sheets and all, as it contributes to the quality of the piece.
