It looks like Sakurai wanted the gun off of that figure as a reference for something.

It's hard to tell what exactly might come of this. It tells us a few things that it can't be, but it doesn't tell us a whole lot about what it actually is. Kid Icarus: Uprising actually did have a sufficient enough variety of weapons that it could get away with using a modified form of that gun, but Sakurai specifically said he wasn't touching the series again.

Maybe he's working on a new IP?

Clearly this points to Henry Fleming, as he may have needed a reference for the Eagle Rifle.

Please? No? Okay. Henry4Smash tho.

Well if you play as robots with guns then I doubt I'll be interested.

I don't think it meant the whole figure, the article seemed to imply it was just the little rifle it was holding that was important.

I can't get a very good look at it since half of it is blocked by the figure holding it, but to do a quick attempt at drawing it, this seems to be what the main focus of speculation should be on.

The. . .gun's design is not meant to be tackled by someone of my skill level. But I attempted.

That's not to say that it couldn't be robots with guns, just that it doesn't seem to be the relevant part of why it was chosen. If the focus is on the gun, then anything that could look alright holding it is fair game. Keep in mind, this is the man that gave a Greco-Roman angel everything from recent past/modern day weaponry to sci-fi equipment to whatever random crud that could be picked up off the ground. You can't put the man in a box, he could take something from one thing and do something completely different for all we know.

Just saying. With Uprising weapon selection in mind, this could be for a LOT of potential things.

I just leave where they end up being because once I tried to rearrange them and ended up selecting the wrong moves.

Yeah, I actually play Smash pretty often.

That said, I normally only play single player, things like All Star, Training, and regular smash battles.

I actually played Brawl for a bit for the first time in years a few days ago.
It was weird.

Well I could have guessed that too. You know, with Sakurai making comments about how he's more confident than ever that he's done with Smash and that he's already working on his next thing. That's not insider, that's an educated guess based upon facts we already know.

Not always primary type though. Whichever I think they fit better in.

And I usually have a flying box with birds and stuff

One thing that has me a bit worried is that someone on the NeoGAF thread I'm reading pointed out that Sakurai working on Nintendo games was out of respect for Iwata and now that Iwata's gone he said he may not be working on them anymore.

Gosh, I hope Sakurai's next game is a Nintendo game. It'd be depressing to see him leave. :/

Haven't played it after finishing all the challenges and getting the custom parts.
And that was half a year ago.

I haven't played it this past month due to Sun and Moon's release, but during the school year, I usually play Smash once a week with a few friends from a club I'm a part of. We usually do 8-Player Smash, and once a semester we even have tournaments.
