... something ive been thinking about for a while now... has Nintendo covered all of the genres yet? in the event where they make a new genre, you can bet that game's main character will be a playable character in ssb4... Horror? hehehe
"action"
needs a beat'em up
fighting: punch out!!, Joy Mech Fight, Teleroboxer, custom robo
maze: Devil World
action adventure: legend of zelda
platform: Super Mario Bros, Metroid 2d, kid icarus, kirby, legendary starfy
shooter: metroid 3d
rail shooter: star fox, sin and punishment
role playing: Mother, golden sun, magical starsign, pokemon
puzzle: brain age, panel de pon(puzzle league)
music: donkey konga
racing: excitebike, f-zero
simulation: nintendogs, animal crossing
sports: wii sports
strategy: fire emblem, advance wars
real time strategy: Pikmin

herm, for advance wars series, who is better as a combatant? andy or the new guy, Will?

what about Teleroboxer?

what characters from golden sun?
alex?

felix?

isaac?

Devil World?
Devil?

Tamagon?

can excitebike be playable?

magical starsign able to?
herm... no name? wierd.

anyways... discussing nintendo's genres, could there be a new untapped genre before ssb4 comes out?

Sorry, I've never actually played the game. Plus the game is sort of about trying to keep yourself from going insane, to the point where when things get seriously messy the game starts messing with you. No, not your character, with YOU the player. Things like having the audio cut out, messing up the controls or worst of all, pretending to corrupt your saved data!

... or so I've heard. Either way, I'm pretty sure that Nintendo wouldn't put something like that into a game with Mario in it. Then again... Solid Snake....

... but Castlevania isn't a Nintendo franchise... then again, 3rd party characters now.

Also, I think you mean "Nintendo's franchises" not "Nintendo's genres."

Either way, that could be pretty awesome, Vampire Mario for god teir!

2D Metroid isn't platformer, and 3D Metroid isn't shooter.

They're both Adventure.

herm................ 3d metroid is 1st person shooter, Action-Adventure. looking at mario i guess i dont even need to put 2d metroid as platformer or adventure. the genre has been covered.
you know what? could they transform Takamaru's series into hack and slash? its basically beat'em up!

Future Nazo no Murasamejō game for Wii - a hack and slash genre game(or WiiHD, i don't care if Reggie said there is no such thing it will happen)

in a new takamaru game i hope that he looks like the cover art from Nazo no Murasamejō not from Captain Rainbow.

First of all, being in first person and having shooting =/= being a first-person shooter. The Metroid Prime series is a first-person adventure game.

Also, Metroid: Other M is to be mainly in 3rd person. Not an FPS at all (especially given the increase in physical combat). Classifying "3D Metroid" as "shooter" is silly.

for the love of... HEY!, Firus, im not trying to argue but if it makes you feel better (or worse with the intent to argue back) Metroid Prime - st person shooter, Action-Adventure. so says wikipedia.

??? seems pretty FPSish to me. and i've played the entire trilogy.

though i don't think i want to argue about it 'cause that's absurdly ********.

i would put the metroid series as a whole under adventure still though. it's not all that it's comprised of, but that's what its main focus is.

at least do that for metroid prime trilogy. 'cause i swear if those were just classified as fps and nothing else, then it would be the worst ****ing game i played. but it's obviously not.

Metroid Prime is either an FPS with adventure game elements or it's an adventure game with light FPS elements. Pick one and be happy.

I still think I'll call it an FPS, because the action-adventure "genre" is just a load of bull that has no particular identifying marks that fanboys just through their game into to make it sound "uniqe" from other games that's in it's would-be genre.

You cannot cite Wikipedia as the source for your argument.

First-person shooters aren't just games with a first-person perspective which involve shooting. They focus on the combat aspect. Metroid is adventure with the combat as an obstacle towards your ultimate goal. ALL of the Metroid games are like this. Metroid Prime is the Metroid series moved to 3D with small adaptations.

At the very least, if you're going to say anything, call Metroid Prime an FPS. Now that Other M has been announced and clearly goes outside that realm, classifying 3D Metroid as first-person shooter makes no sense.

But this is off-topic, if I haven't made my point by now I'm not ever going to.
