Nintendo Sponsored Tournament at WPI!

First of all, before I say anything, I would like to admit that no, I have no actual proof that this event is going to take place.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute's Game Development Club is working with Nintendo Reps to have a Nintendo Sponsored Brawl Tournament at WPI. Microsoft had a near-launch-day tournament for Halo 3 here, and now Nintendo and the GDC are working together to establish a date to have this tournament.

While this may seem useless for you guys, one interesting thing is that the Nintendo reps were thinking about having a tournament BEFORE the launch day! Now, im not saying that this tournament will be a source of important information, or that this is of any importance to anyone.

What is interesting about this tournament is that it might end up being the first Nintendo-Sponsored Brawl Event with the full version of the game.

Even if it doesn't happen before the launch date, I think this is pretty cool, as a student of WPI.

What do you guys think about official nintendo sponsored events? Has anyone heard of any other similar events planned?

NOTE: The date of this event isn't set, but has been verified as going to happen, and the event is supposed to be open to the public.

WPI...where is this being held=??? Anyways, it sounds pretty intresting. If it's somewhere close by, it would be nice to go!

Cool. One of my friends goes to WPI. And heck, that isn't too far from where I am (I currently live in Boston). Not that I would go or anything, but it's nice to hear that there's something local out there.

Anyways, I am not too sure how many people from around the area they are expecting, but once a date and time is set, I will update the post here and try to get a estimate of how many SWF people are thinking of coming.

WPI is a relatively small school, so if 50 extra people are gonna show up, the GDC would want to know about it in advance.
