"Super Smash Bros. is a beloved series off video games beloved by thousands, and the newly announced "Super Smash Bros. For Wii U & 3DS" is not going to have any story line and cut scenes, the reason for this is because all of the cut scenes were leaked online. "Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the Internet," Masahiro Sakurai said. "You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I've decided against having them." This is such a problem because Smash Bros. players every ware enjoy the story of Smash Bros. and true fans will not look at the leaked cut scenes, and wait for the element of surprise when they play the game"

So many newcomer Rookies with petitions arriving lately.

I honestly don't mind this that much. It was great in Brawl, but I can live without it.

Plus I'd rather not give out so much personal information. For all I know this could be spam trying to get my contact info to try and sell me stuff.

I understand why you would like a Subspace Emissary style campaign back in the game, as do I, but there are several reasons why it's not such a big deal. Firstly, the story is not the main focus of the series. It may have been the focus of Brawl, but every other game has had a very barebones campaign. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're aiming for a Melee style campaign in this game, just bigger. I don't know anyone who even played SSE after they beat it the first time. Secondly, what fighting game besides Brawl had an in-depth story? Most have a very short story, built for each character respectively. And hey, that may be what they're doing with this one. Finally, they're not getting rid of ALL the cutscenes. We're still getting intro cutscenes for all the unlockable characters, much like the newcomers' trailers showing how the characters got there in the first place. So yes, while I would love to see Pikachu and Mega Man band together to fight Primids, it's not THAT big of a loss in my opinion.

Nah, I'd rather that Sakurai puts emphasis, focus and resources into things that matters the most to Smash Bros: The Multiplayer aspect. SSE hurt Brawl in some departments, and it was only really good for one or two times, he could have put resources and focus on including, oh I don't know, Mewtwo maybe?

I'm all for cutscenes.

I don't care about the 1P mode unless someone TAS' it.

I guess I'll start a counter petition. A petition for Sakurai to ignore all other petitions regarding SmashBros.
SSE was nice, but do you people even think one step ahead when you sign a petition like this one?
Those asslong cutscenes and the storymode itself will shoot SSB4 back to 2015 or give way more chara cuts then needed. And it's not what SmashBros is about. It's a party and a competitive fighting game, not an big story RPG Game with huge twists and mind****s -.-

And add 4-6 months back into the development time for something that will probably only be enjoyable the first time around? Pass.
For those that even enjoyed SSE. :/

I was hoping for an experience akin to that of Kirby Super Star... Wow was that ever an upset. >~< At least the story was cool up until the whole Tabuu thing.

I enjoyed SSE but come on, what's up with all these petitions? Do people seriously think they're going change Sakurai's mind?

Petitions hardly ever work lol. I'm sure Nintendo has seen so many of these things they think it's a complete joke right now

The only petition I'd sign is the Regginators petition.. and Lloyd Irving.

But... idk how I'd feel staring at Reggie's face for like 7 years until Smash 5 is released, lol.

We don't need Story mode or cut scenes... Seriously why was space on something we complete in a day and never touch again? Gosh these Miiverse people...

It's seriously hard to believe the amount of assfaces who don't want a story mode...just let me tell you this people: If you didn't get goosebumps when...

- Link lifted the Master Sword
- Marth battled Meta Knight
- Samus rescued Pikachu
- Samus got her suit back
- Mario, Link, Kirby and Yoshi appeared
- Snake got out of the box
- Captain Falcon jumped and did a Falcon Punch to a ROB
- Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong stopped the Bullet Bill attack
- ALL OF NINTENDO'S ALL-STARS DID A FULL ASAULT ON THE SUBSPACE ARMY
- Sonic pulled an epic save

...you don't really like the concept of Smash Bros.

Have you ever heard of Blazblue, Guilty Gear or Persona 4 Arena? Those are some grand exceptions and counters to your statement.

inb4 they don't count cause anime fighters

Staying on topic, I'd honestly prefer the cutscenes to be in the game. I actually really like SSE and have played it multiple times. I'd basically like it to be like Melee's Adventure Mode, only with bosses and with cutscenes. Maybe even different stories for each character. if not that, then one big overarching story between them all works again too. That'd be cool.

Not like there's much else appealing about Smash 4 at the moment anyway. Nothing exciting has happened since Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager were announced. No new trailers, no new gameplay, not significant info, nothing. Just Sakurai ******* around as usual.

I loved the cutscenes, but man, it took too much of Brawl's development to get something that was only good for one time. I still watch the cutscenes occasionally, but it's been done once now, they should put focus on the thing that matters in Smash Bros instead, and that's exactly what they're doing. The question you gotta ask yourself is whether it's worth it to sacrifice better multiplayer in favor of having such a big story mode, and while I know it was different parts of the team that worked on each, a lot of resources and focus went into Subspace Emissary, and in turn the multiplayer did suffer since it made less time for balancing and character implementation (especially since the Subspace Emissary likely put a very tight deadline on the character roster.)

If you want to add another 4 months of development for it and a bigger crunch on the 3DS version, okay. But I just don't care about the story that much, you play through it once and you're done. Not to mention Sakurai never said it'd have NO story.

And the concept of Smash Bros was always in the unique gameplay ever since N64. Not an elaborate cutscene-filled story mode.

Petitions have a pathetically insignificant chance to affect anything regarding the game's development.

Lol at stupid people thinking petitions actually do anything

You'd be better off bombarding Sakurai with messages demanding he make the game exactly how YOU want it, since at least that has a miniscule chance of making some change.

I personally don't care that SSB4 doesn't have a story mode. I rather have the emphasis be on the gameplay and characters. Plus, the SSE took up a lot of development time and content, so no SSE could mean that we have more room for characters, stages, and improved gameplay.

I honestly hated the Subspace Emissary and am glad it's gone(not for Sakurai's reasoning though).

when it was first revealed on the brawl dojo it sounded like a great concept and I welcomed the addition but then when Brawl actually released I realized that it sucked.
(don't get me wrong, I LOVED watching all the cutscenes) but the gameplay was boreing.

It also took away alot of the mystery of unlocking a character. I loved how in melee and 64 before I unlocked a character it would always have that silhouette with "WARNING" it was more eciting unlocking characters.

Also I hated Taboo as a main villain. it was like he just came out from nowhere.

I also realized that by them adding SE, it took ALOT away from the content that could have been in this game that was in previous instalments. like...

1. break the targets
2. board the platforms
3. Event matches
4. race to the finish
5. all star mode
6. the possibility of more characters or balance
....all replaced for a few story driven cutscenes with horrible gameplay..i'll pass this time

not to mention online and stage builder was bare bones.

Subspace Emissary was a cool-looking afterthought for a game based around brawling. Sure, the cutscenes were cool, but the gameplay was lacking. No replayability, no enjoyment, not even any story...seriously, if it wasn't for the Rule of Cool it would be even more denounced then it already was. Melee and 64 were great without big story mode. To top it off, SSE and the cutscenes were almost half of Brawl's disk space of 7 gig. Imagine how much more meaningful content we could get with that space! I'm happy without SSE and cutscenes; we'll get super awesome individual new character trailers and that'll do for me.

Honestly, I would have to agree with Wave Kusanagi. A big mode like SSE again? Pass, but a buffed up Adventure Mode that expands as you unlock characters and franchises? I could go for that. I definitely enjoyed the boss fights and would love to see Adventure Mode have those. Heck, have Event Mode act as a repository for the crazy challenges and epic showdowns we've been all wanting, and Boss Fights unlocked as you uncover them in Adventure. That would be good enough for me.

SE was literally THE definition of all style and no substance. The concept and cut-scenes were great.

Everything else was a pile of horse ****.

And I feel bad for insulting horse ****.

It would be hard to top the epic sh#$ that happened in brawl's subspace.
Unless they had the Wii Fit Trainer fly into space and like blow up a planet with yoga moves.

If you want that kind of stuff, then you're betting asking for ending FMVs after beating Classic Mode or something like. Because as cool as those scenes were, they made no freaking sense and the whole miming thing didn't help in the slightest.

Honestly, cutscenes were cool, but I really don't want SSE again. Cutscene endings for Classic Mode, however, would be awesome.

Now this person here has the right idea. This would probably be much more enjoyable for everything than SSE instead of only a small group of people liking it.

I'll give a back massage with my magic fingers to anyone who tells me what in the world Tabuu was there for, why the subspace was instated in the first place, and how the gigantic battleship popped out of the subspace.

Yeah...Tabuu's appearance made no sense whatsoever.

He made no appearance nor was mentioned at any point prior to Ganondorf discovering he was in control of Master Hand. There also was nothing that implied Master Hand was under someone else's control.

That was a major flaw in the plot, being completely random. Even Sonic having appeared out of nowhere at the very end was more predictable. (actually at that point it was pretty predictable)

Wow. It's like none of you have read the info in either of his trophies which explains all of this.

Seriously, I didn't find it random at all.

IIRC Tabuu is just a bad guy, which represents the boy's (master hand's) mother picking up all the trophies. If you don't count metaphor stuff, then he's just a generic supervillain there for the supervillain role.
Subspace is Tabuu's domain, it's where he lives, and that's also where he started coming up with his plan.
In order to complete his plan, he got Master Hand, who in turn got Wario, Ganon and Bowser to cooperate, they created a bunch of tech in order to help in their assault, and one of those pieces of tech was the giant laser battleship, which they were probably assembling. (a fat man, an old man and old turtle for best construction team.)
Now gimme that back massage.

It doesn't make sense to pick up toys and contract out other toys to do the same. And it also doesn't make sense subspace is even there other than Tabuu living in it.

And Wario/Bowser/Ganon cannot just make a gunship of that size.

Heck, this is all just stuff I already knew. It's obvious Tabuu's a supervillain, subspace is where he lives, and that he contracted his work to the other baddies. This still doesn't clear anything up.
