Nintendo fails at everything now. Videogames are declining due to the rise of the casual gamers, and nintendo decided to ***** itself out to causal gamers.

Wow, melodramatic much? Don't be so bum hurt; it's not like there aren't PLENTY of non-Ninty tournaments anyways.

This gives us a new found appreciation for evo's ruleset I guess. Anyway it would be interesting to see videos. I wonder if good will be there.

It's really not about the tournament, it's just an example of how games are sucking now due to casual gamers.

Evo's ruleset wasn't that bad. It was experimental as hell, and it didn't turn out the way the Smash community wanted it to, but now the SRK tournaments are dabbling in what they call "All-Brawl," turning on all items and stages, because Evo 2008's Smash tournament was a lot more exciting to them than Evo 2007's Melee event due to the chaotic nature. Most of the entrants liked it too. I'm not saying that items-on Smash is better. It becomes less of a fighting game and more of a contest of reaction, adaptation, and reflex, which I think is kinda cool, it's just...really different. Too different. Smash tournaments, I think, should cater to Smash players, and Evo 2008 didn't. Granted, they have a lot of tournaments on SWF that follow SWF's rules, and maybe this was an attempt to divide SRK Smash and SWF Smash into two seperate categories, but if that were the case, they could have(and should have) outright stated as such from square one.
