NiGHTS: A JOURNEY TO BRAWL?

Guys, it seems like things are really heating up in terms of the Brawl Cast. With the news of Sonic and Mario appearing together for the first time in Mario and Sonic: At the Olympics and NiGHTS making his triumphant return to none other system but the Wii this fall, one has to wonder if he will make the cut. The last time we touched on this issue, many argued that it wasn’t plausible because he had not appeared on the system (although in actuality you could see him on one of the Sonic Adventure’s minigames). At any rate, I would like to put forth that this problem has been solved. In addition, even after 11 years, the fan base is still there and will only grow after this year’s release.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/777/777545p1.html

I’m afraid to even design a move set because there is simply no telling what changes SEGA might make to one of their most beloved characters. However, I will be bold enough to describe what I think his playstyle might be. NiGHTS would definitely not be as fast Fox or Sheik, but I could definitely see him playing as something like a faster Mewtwo (especially his dash). Something else to consider is that NiGHTS doesn’t actually touch the ground in Into the Dreams, he simply floated about, this is why Mewtwo’s dash came to mind. I would think that he’ll have a speed similar to that of peach but would more than likely specialize in aerial attacks.

So, what do you guys think about this new Brawl potential?

I would die of happiness if NiGHTS made it in. With a new NiGHTS game on th Wii (*SQUEE!*), he gets new hopes. Here's to NiGHTS!

Good eye to catch that Nights will be revived on the Wii, but I choose Sonic over Nights any day of the week. Still, his appearance is possible especially since that he was a hidden character on Sonic Riders.

Oh man, I forgot all about NiGHTS in that game. I absolutely agree with you on sonic, but come on…it’s a given that Sonic is going to be in brawl.

It’s time for us to turn our attention to the characters that are left fighting for the prized spots…Megaman, Geno, and of course NiGHTS….why can’t we just have them all???

From what I just gathered form my visit to Wikipedia, NiGHTS is a gender ambiguous jester whose claim to fame is a 2.5-D action game for the Sega Saturn.

Okay, I'll bite. Why should I be excited for NiGHTS Wii and why does he (she?) deserve to be in the same game as icons like Mario and Solid Snake?

. . . Wellll. . .
1. Theres NO rule that EVERY 3rd party in Brawl only gets one character so NiGHTS and Sonic could make it in together. (I wonder if it would actually be easyer to have most 3rd party characters come from one company. . . with the paper work and payment cuts and what not)

2. He HAS been and will be on a Nintendo system.

3. It's great advertizment for his new game that Sega has chosen to be Wii only as of right now.

4. This is . . . this is Sega's Pit. As in a "Old a** character from 10+ years ago that made such a great game/ character/ impact that it STILL held it's fan-base (and said fan-base even grew) over time even after it has been turned down for a come back many of time. . . but will now "fly again" on the Wii".

5. Has a HUGE fan following that lead to this new Wii only game.

. . . By all means NiGHTS could very well make it into brawl. After Sonic I personality have no idea who will make the 3rd party cuts (maybe Ray-man. . .thats about as fare as I can go with Snake making it a "even the least likely in everyone's opinion can make it in" guessing game)

Big the Cat? No, definitely not Big the Cat. He would fall waaaaaay down the line of potential SEGA characters to star in Brawl, albeit I would enjoy playing him regardless. I see the SEGA characters on the Brawl bench in this batting order:

1. Sonic
2. Nights
3. Tails
4. Knuckles
5. Aiai (Super Monkey Ball)
6. Shadow
7. Silver
8. Robotnik
9. Vyse (Skies of Arcadia)
10. Amy

That's how I see it (I'll admit it, though, I based my lineup solely on my knowledge of Sonic the Hedgehog characters and then threw in the main characters of other well known SEGA-on-Nintendo games).

It's very possible for NiGHTS to be inside Brawl! Who knows? The expanding amount of characters from different companies will be good for Brawl.

I doubt that Sega would be allowed two characters in Brawl. No, it might happen, but I doubt it will.

And there's no chance in hell that they'd rather have the NiGHTS guy (is it a chick now?) in before Sonic. Unless, of course, Nintendo asks specifically.

Could... but won't. Sonic is WAAAAAAAY WAY WAY WAY up there before Nights. To the best of my knowledge, Sonic is the most requested 3rd party character and Nights... well I don't believe "Nights" and "Brawl" have even appeared in the same sentence unless used by fanboys/girls.

Why must we jump the gun so quickly?
Cause if you jump it slowly, you're likely to get shot. ;)

NiGHTS fits the criteria of a Smash character. I could easily see him/her being a favored character. And due to Nintendo and Sega's increased cooperation, it would be acceptable to think Sonic and NiGHTS could both be new fighters in Brawl. So, let the gun-jumping continue.

You know Nights could be a " Sorry no Sonic enjoy this guy/girl instead." We may never know we will have to wait until E3 Expo for Nintendo to give us anything about Brawl.

if Sonic isnt in this i would be utterly shocked and im sure alot of other people will be too. people all over would be outraged. but just as someone mentioned Nights could be the character they put in to try to make up for Sonic not being in brawl.

I agree with that being a possibility...could NiGHTS release in fall effect Brawl's release? ...or would it be released before or after NiGHTS?

The criteria for Brawl potentials is they had to have been on a Nintendo system at least once. Nights (as of now) doesn't make the cut (yet). If the next Nights game comes out BEFORE Brawl, then maybe I could see it happen. However, it doesn't seem to be the case so I doubt Nights will be in Brawl at all. Though I could be wrong. If they have Nights in Brawl and Sonic isn't, I will be deeply deeply deeply deeply hurt. No offense to Nights, but I think Sonic deserves the spot more.

Actually NiGHTS has appeared in several games on the Gamecube including the Sonic Adventure games as an Easter egg and was even playable in Sonic Riders (which Sonic Team has confirmed to be working on a sequel.) In addition, it is believed that NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams originally began as a work for the XBOX 360 and PS3 quite some time ago. It is far more likely to see its release before Brawl this fall because Ninetendo is going to want to capitalize on the holiday season. Once again, why are all of you guys worried about NiGHTS replacing Sonic in Brawl? First of all, if Mario and Sonic at the Olympics (A Wii ONLY GAME) isn’t a sign of things to come, then what is? Secondly, just as Mario is Ninetendo name’s sake, Sonic is equally SEGA’s namesake. NiGHTS replacing Sonic is like Link replacing Mario…it’s not going to happen.
Doe$ anyone have a move$et for Night$?
Wavebird came up with this one last July, I think it needs some work though.

Move Set.
B. Spark [Kinda like Samus' Charge]
B>. Missle Shot [like Luigi's or Pika's]
bV> Twinkle Shield [Ness's PK Mag.]
B^ Fly [For a short period of time you are able to fly freely without using jumps.]

At any rate, I’m sure that his moveset would be based on the upcoming game rather than the original’s.

NiGHTS is coming out in 'winter'. Presuming it's this year, that means it's November or December.

You'd be a **** fool to think that, if Brawl releases this year, it won't be in one of these months. They'll probably be coming in at the right.

Nietendodude, you make a good point. I retract my un-ending doubt for NiGHTS, and replace it with...about the same amount of doubt, minus a tad.

I swear that nintendo is having way to many good games coming out Fall/Winter. They're going to be dry by 2008.

So what if NiGHTS 2 comes out after brawl. . . NiGHTS was still on a Nintendo system before and. . . look at Roy.

I don't see that as a strike against NiGHTS. . . .

Roy wasn't even in a game when SSBM came out. . . but he was going to be.

And IDK, everyone seems to like Sonic Rush. . .I never played it.

What about Roy? And I never played Sonic Riders :( Is it worth it?
No. Not at all.

It's more proof that Sonic Team is one of the worst developers out there right now. I mean, they'll come out with a few gems here and there (I think Sonic and the Secret Rings is one of the most underrated games in a long time), but most of their stuff is crap. The only reason I have hope that they won't screw up NiGHTS is that they 1) have some of the original designers involved and 2) seem to be willing to stick to the original formula. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just make a new game with Wiimote controls, based completely off the design of the first game. How can they fail at that?

Ummm, yeah....

Yours says winter, mine says fall. I'm a loyal ign fan, and I'm sure that you're a joystiq fan. It's really anyone's guess as to whose right though. Nevertheless, I don't think that NiGHTS release date is going to have any impact on whether or not he actually makes it into Brawl.
