oh noes people. don't get your expectations up

this is probably only happening during this summer, and i'm not sure
how many tourneys we can run because i'm going back to asia
for july and my friend is not totally interested in running these.

so, at most, maybe 3-4 tourneys

you guys could probably make this happen during july if you got in direct
contact with my friend, as hes the only person (must be resident of the
condo complex) able to rent out the venue, and persuade him to rent out the
venue. you would probably have to run the tourney yourselves.

actually, june 5th is coming wayyy too fast. i'm thinking about june 20th as a tentative date. (its a sunday)

sundays are terrible

june 5 is legit; if you're thinking 'wayyy too fast' in terms of not getting enough turnout, then I assure you that's not a real issue; if it's 'wayyy too fast' in terms of booking the room, then yeah, I guess there's nothing you can do about it

I agree, Sunday is bad. I have never been to a Melee tournament where it was held on a Sunday before.

basically, if you host a melee tournament in san jose, expect a lot more people to come than those who said "interested"

SJ is historically one of the best regions to hold tournaments in norcal, expect a very healthy turnout if you do end up hosting (much more than 15 people)

been a long time...
guess i could attend a tourney in my own city
I sent you an AIM message but you didn't respond so I didn't know if you received it or not.

Andrew, when you have a chance, I think you should update your first post in this thread with something like this:

Stage Striking: Redwood Counter Pick System

1. Blind Picks character selection.
2. Stage Striking: Players eliminate stages from the Starter Stage List until only 1 remains, and the players then play the first match on that stage. Players strike stages in 1 2 2 1 order.
3. The first match is played.
4. Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage.
5. The losing player of preceding match picks stage for the next match.
6. The winning player of preceding match picks character.
7. The losing player picks character.
8. The next match is played.
9. Repeat 4-8 for all consecutive matches as necessary until the set is complete.

you should jus put the list of people on the first post instead of making a new post everytime someone says they're interested =)
