I think we can all or most of us can agree that World if Light wasn't that impressive. We appreciate the effort, of course, Sakurai. However, Ultimate REALLY could use a storyline similar to Brawl's Subspace Emissary, as far as cutscenes and mechanics. Obviously it should be different in plot but we want our story to actually feel like a story, am I right? World of Light was decent, but in my opinion, felt too much like an "adventure mode" of sorts.

Eh, I'd rather have dev time and resources go to making the main battle mode as good as it can possibly be.
Well, I already posted in 2 massive facebook Smash Bros Ultimate groups with over 20k+ members in each. And everyone that commented agreed that the story we got wasn't really a story nor satisfactory. I appreciate everything Sakurai has done for Smash Bros overall but Smash Bros Ultimate was supposed to have a story. I know there was the whole ordeal of leakers and that upset Sakurai. But Nintendo said Ultimate would have a story and World of Light doesn't feel like a story and there are alot of fans that agree with this. Yea maintaining a good multiplayer is essential, but so is maintaining a good story mode for the fans that loved Subspace Emissary and we're hyped for the "story" that was supposed to come to Ultimate. There's way more to Ultimate than just multiplayer.

If they included a cutscene of :ultinkling:/:ultinklingboy: exchanging a fist bump, then I wouldn't even care if the rest of the story was a dumpster fire.

I would have preferred something similar to Subspace but taking place in Nintendo locations and not just generic stuff.
I would have honestly prefered a story mode similar to that of Injustice.

Where you play through a certain chapter of the story with a certain character while getting a bunch of cool cutscenes!!!

Why couldn't Sakurai just do that????????

Instead of having you be bored senseless out of your skull with A Smash Tour clone where all you do is just fight characters who already on the roster (Which is what you already did in Classic Mode and Spirits) with nothing fun or joyful about it????????

I understand Nintendo wanting to rush Ultimate out as quickly as possible because them nowadays because them turning into Activision and EA (Being Money Whores)!!!

But at least!!!! You could throw in something that's not a Cinder Awful waste of time and programming resources for Heaven's Sake (I really hate World Of Light and I'd rather play with hot coals with no gloves on my hands than play through that mode repeatedly)!!!!

To be fair, that's a lot of chapters for Smash, or not everyone gets a turn.

Now, I do wish they'd put more effort into single player, but I also don't have much confidence in Sakurai to do a story like this. Subspace's actual story was...meh, plus, look what he does to Mario in so many of the trailers he directs. You think this guy could be fair?

That said, it would probably take more than cutscenes to fix WoL. It's mainly just really repetitive. But at the same time, Subspace was too dull not taking anywhere near enough from the franchises in it. As far as just fun to play, Adventure mode is probably still the gold standard. If we could get a good story with cinematics that played more like Adventure mode, now that would be something.

I always pictured Dharkon as a reincarnation of Zero Two whose spirit was infected by Malice

Aside from that I had an idea where the stages were interconnected and you could collect spirits by completing npc quests

I'm disappointed in this too.
Ultimate has such an awesome roster but as a crossover it's very shallow.
The character interactions in the Subspace Emissary gave Brawl so much personality.

I'm still holding out hope that someday they'll release a complete edition of Ultimate with a proper story mode.

when it comes to Adventure modes IMO Melee did it best. 7 or so platform stages/battles/bosses/etc. with a few variants depending on certain actions you take. I'd prefer something like that, with more variants influenced by even more variables, than a longer adventure mode that takes 4+ hours to complete. That's just me though since I got bored of SSE and found it a chore to replay after my third time.

Melee's adventure mode was awesome and I'd love something like that back again.
SSE wasn't fantastic in terms of gameplay, but the character interactions were what made it so great imo.

Character interactions aren't really a strong point for SSE when your favourite character is portrayed as a child-murderingpetrifying lunatic.

While I enjoy Wario's Smash moveset overall, SSE Wario is a disgrace to the Wario character. Don't get me wrong, the man in yellow is an asshole and not a hero in the strictest definition, but other than his very first few appearances he's never acted out of true villainous malice like he does in SSE - usually just greed or hunger - and has never gone even close to full-on villain territory in his own games.

My biggest worry for, and one of my biggest points against, SSE2 is how certain characters are portrayed. It'd do no favours to either, fans of the character or newcomers to their series, to have Dark Pit semi-murder Pac-Man or the Duck Hunt dog literally commit Oops! Accidental Genocide™ on the entire dog race.
