new mindgames with falcos laser

i was messin around the other day in training mode and i learned somethin really usefull
ok here it is......i dont have a video to show but ill try to explain it


you know when you do a short hop single laser while doin a backflip when facin your oponent.
well i like doin that up close to the openent andtryin to land it with a silent laser to follow with a gatling combo

but its hard to land now cuz i tend to overuse that

i found out a new way to be less predictible wtih your lasers

if your back is facin your opponent and your close to him most of the time that means you are gonna bair.

now i do thebackflip while facin away from the oponent and i do the turn around laser shot.
if your close enough you could follow it witha gatling combo. i ended up practicin it for a while and I did the backflip facing away from myoponent into a silent laser straight to a gatling combo. its actually easier for me to land silent lasers when shootin the laser like that. i used it against my friend who is really good in smash and he was really impressed by it.

the reason this works so good is becuase people never see it fromfalcos

im not the best at explainin to you guys what i mean but hopefully some1 who reads this could explain it to every1alot easier



if you practice this for a while you could do it prettyconsistetly. i land a silent laser about half the time with this technique.



now the easister way to do this is to while your back is facing the oponent short hop and the do the backflip animation falco does and then right away tap the control stick to your openents direction so his momentum is goin towards the opponent and then tap the control stick towards him again and laser. its rpetty easy for me to time it and really usefull


its best used when you are close to the oppoenent faking a back ari hit because from far away you could just do shdl and shl but up clsoe this is a really usefull and unpredictiable technique.



if you finsihs it with a silent laser and your really close to the opponent then you could follow into a gatling combo and its rpetty much a true combo. nearly inescapable if you alnd the silent laser.

This is a just a turnaround SHSL followed by a gatling combo.... I'm sure all competent Falcos are aware of this possibility. Nice try but sorry... it doesn't seem to be particularly new and groundbreaking.

but no1 uses it at all

its just like when sk92 used to fake a bair but not do it and instead do a airdodge into forward smash

that seems so simple too.


but what great plaeyrs recognize is just becuase somethin is simple doenst mean it isnt a great technique.

the mostimportnat thing is its effective and unpredictible and every good falco player knows falco could be predictible at times and its upto the player to find ways to be unpredictible,

thats why i think sk92 is sooo good. watch his matches and watch how good his mindgaems are... this game is way mroe mind games then tech then melee was





and when you say its just a turnaround shl to gatling . the reason this is effective is becuase your not doin a normal turnaroudn shot your doin it while doin a backflip which most the timeif you close by means back air. pure mindgame that is what makes this move good.....i never see falcos usin it in long isladn or any videos i seen.

but the diffference is your talkin bout a normal shotr hop jump

im talkin bout a backflip jump which people never see a reverse laser out of it

they usually expect a bair when your up close. so thats what makes it good


the backflip short hop really makes a huggeee difference then a normal jump into reverse b. it seemslike it deosnt but it does cuz peopel never see it you know what im sayin

most falco players compeltely try to stay away and camp and wait till people aproach

i dont camp much i try to use my lasers to approach sort of like sk92 plays.
watch some of his videos and you'll know what i mean. plus my fav thing to do with falco is when your up clsoe to the opponent landing a silent laser into gatling combo or a poviuot grab or soemthin in thsoe lines.


i just like that kinda of playstyle makes the game more fun to me lol

Falco is one of the best campers in the game, why pass up the opportunity to do so?
Fun =/= Successful. Sure being really aggressive is fun and all, but when I'm getting my *** beat down for constantly being on the offensive when I could be playing a spacing and camping game, why not?
Being cerebral is fun too ya know, you should try it.

i guess your one of thsoe falco players that just camps the **** out of people. i mix in offense and defense. i no when tosit bakc have poeple approach me but most characters are used to approachin falcos so i switch it up and act likeim gonna be campin but then out of nowere a shl gatling combo hits them.

and talkin about winnin i just entered the biggest tourney in LONG ISLAND were pros like BUM went their. soem of the best players in the US went to this toruney. and i finishsed 17th out of about 70 people not sure on the total but way over 60.


sk92 is a perfect example. he mixes in defense well but plays falco offensively and he the best falco in the world so that proves to me that in order to be a really good falco you think ve to be a ***** camper.

about 6montsh ago i went to my first tourney i didnt win 1 set until the third tourney i went to. now im climbin the ranks pretty fast and doin it with a stylke that i love to play

so maybe you like camping and playin that way but i dont. i like my style and its workin for me

first of all, you should slow down your typing >_>. i can barely read it with so many typos >_>

anyways, no one is telling you to "change your style of play", if you are successful doing what you are doing, then keep doing it.
i kinda agree actually, camping all the time won't work. but there are certain matchups in which camping will help you. a lot.

Your logic is flawed in the first place. If they're expecting a Bair like you say they should be, then they'll probably be shielding, which means they'll just block the laser and the GC, leaving you more open than if you had just Baired/SHSL'd. And turnaround laser is definately nothing new.
And if you just practiced more you wouldn't have to do this to get silent lasers consistently.

we never said this WON'T work, like, ever.

it could work, it's just that first, this isn't anything new and therefore didn't need a new thread, and second, it's not very practical.

imo predictability isn't falco's biggest problem.recovery is. followed by KO'ing ability.

I do it all the time, I just don't use soley that. And it's not new! Also, continuously doing backflip lasers just makes you more predictable.

The time it takes for me to jump, turn around, then make my laser reverse, by the time I hit B the laser will be silent. Works every time

no i don't copy his style. i watch all of the best falcos videos and just take pointers from them and use some things i pick up from those videos and add my agressive style of play into it

my mistake for saying that it is something new.

i should have said underused. but i just saw a couple new recent sethlon videos and he uses it but besides that i never see this being used and its not anything big but its a neat little trick that opponents don't see often..
