I have been playing Lucas a lot lately and have some tips

Did you play melee at a competitive level? I think you almost have to play Lucas in the mindset of playing melee Marth. His attacks come out quick, have good range and good power, and then a lott of wind-down lag.

Basically, if your opponent was anywhere near competent with the movements and attacks of Ike/Snake, you would've been punished a LOT for your often missed moves (up B, up smash in particular). Try to keep pressure on the opponent with the over b and quicker moves (jab, forward tilt, up tilt, forward aerial) and really set yourself up to bring out the heavy firepower.
