Good read, not a lot new. I just wished that he didn't answer Sakurai with PacMan.... I really do not want pacman.

the game been developed for a long time and if it was released on q1 then it definitely would not be rushed

Really great to hear that balance patches are being considered. Hopefully other forms of DLC will be available as well.

That's a good thing, in my book.

In my book the sooner the better. Since they will release it when its finished and not rush it. Why would you want the exact same game in 2016 and not 2014? -__-

Maybe you mean "rather a later release than a rushed game"? Wich actually is Nintendos philosophy. It's finished when its finished and wont be harshly rushed. Mario Kart 8 comes late spring 2014 and could be a console selling game for the whole year by itself. So don't worry that much mate!

It worries me that he is considering fixing something that isn't broken. Matchmaking appeals to everyone in it, since you get matched against people of similar skill. Both at the top of the pyramid and in the bottom. He atleast finishes on that subject with the importans of playing against equals so it reasures me some.

And why Pacman mr.Ign interviewer? (even thought the final smash idea had me giggle a bit).

They should throw in Yoshimitsu from Tekken, or one of the Kings.

Yoshimitsu has been in every tekken game, as well as soul caliber. He just seems the kind that could wind up in a game like smash and it would still go down well.

I have a feeling Sakurai would have just [laughs] if those guys were brought up.

fixed and you're probably right in some bizarre way.
I know I've pissed a lot of people off on here before by talking about the removal of Toon Link.
But if you take a nice long look at his move set, there's really no variation to Link's aside from them just having different hitboxes, speeds and range.

Plus people that that complain about Ganon being a clone and don't see Toon Link as one are just plain hypocritical.

Based on this interview, I would bank on Smash U being a summer '14 release and Smash 3DS a little after that. I doubt they would release Smash U in the fall, as Nintnedo wouldn't want a big Wii U title interfering with Zelda (my money is on a November 23, 2014 release for Zelda U) sales.

I think this might mean we get something similar to Tekken's matchmaking system. There, every character is assigned titles based on the player's skill level with them. As you win more, you get higher titles. You'll start out with 9th Kyu and then start building up to well over two dozen different titles. This keeps the vital matchmaking aspect, provided that the search is done AFTER you select your character, and allows a sense of a ranking system.

I think you mean to say that they lack critical thinking skills, or at least cognitive dissonance. Being a hypocrite doesn't apply here. Also, the difference between Ganondorf and Commander Bird is much greater than the difference between the two Links.

This part of the article has already been published before, I believe Richard George is just shamelessly plugging his own ideas into the article. He's an obvious fanboi. The fact that he wants the mob of Koopas clearly demonstrates we're blessed he isn't developing the game. I can't make any sense of what else you are trying to say.

I just wished that he didn't answer Sakurai with PacMan....
It's really hard to imagine being one of the few people who get to talk with the creator of this game for any length of time and when he asks you who would you like to see in the game that would require a small miracle to make happen in the first place, you say "Pac-Man." I am going to have an aneurism.

Lack critical thinking skills.... I like this one, I shall use it to refer to most smashers in the future.

2016 is absurd. It is not a good thing, nor would it happen. Delayed to 2015 could be a good thing if they need the time. However more time != better game. I mean if being delayed over a year and upwards of two is a good thing, why don't they take an extra 10 and release it in 2024. Oh right, then it would be Duke Nukem Forever and it would suck terribly.

Part of the reason why a game's dev cycle has to be relatively short is because what is innovative and awesome today won't be tomorrow, and playing a continual game of catch-up never works out. Unless the original estimate created a ridiculously short dev cycle, a game should never be delayed more then a few months. Also, what makes us think we know better then Sakurai, the one creating the game, when we can realistically see it being released? He was only off by a couple months last time, and that was likely due to Sonic.

Yeah. He has never made anything strictly bad, at least relative to what his goals were. The delay in Brawl was partly due to Sonic and also due to the implementation of the online feature, which I believe they spent two months on.

Hey man they had to spend a lot of time on boring stage layouts and uninteresting enemies.

Okay yes I'm being unfair, they probably worked on sse in parallel to everything else... or at least I hope they did.

I would prefer them taking more time on the game than less.
The more time they spend on it the more fine-tuned it gets.

*shrugs* I'm down with whatever they want. Sakurai seems like a pretty good goal setter. If he really thinks they can do it in less time, I trust him. That said, that isn't going to happen.

When it comes down to the release date, I'm expecting the worst yet hoping for the best.
I'm expecting it to be delayed several times a la Brawl, but I hope it will be spot on by some time in 2014.

It wouldn't be 2016 because Nintendo isn't going to keep Namco-Bandai on their payroll that long. I'm pretty sure that we will get it in Fall 2014, but I would be okay if they push it into 2015 if they need more time to put more characters or fine-tune the game.

I really hope and predict that they will release SSB Wii U on Sept 23, 2014, because that day will be Nintendo's 125th birthday.

And then he said the koopalings!?! Even though it was probably just a joke I felt like strangling him. Why didn't he say Ridley or K. Rool? Takamaru and Little Mac, Chibi Robo, Dillon, Muddy Mole? F%$# whatabout Lloyd Irving any character from Tekken or even Dig Dug?

The fact that he's even considering balance patches and admits some characters weren't fully tested to me is confirmation that metaknight will be nerfed this game. sweet.
